I dont get why my car WOULDNT be affected being that my vin number is alot lower then the TSB affected vin numbers. Why would they put new parts in my car (with the earlier vin number) then start using the old parts again for the vin affected cars in the TSB?

As I've said before in this thread, Canadian and US VINs are completely different (not sequential with each other) so this US TSB is completely irrelevent to us Canadians...

ALL CANADIANS WITH 08 Si's LIST YOUR VINS (and build week if you know it) and if you have any problems or not.

So whats up with the CANADIAN cars?

will there be a canadian specific tsb?

My car was built the 4th week of jan 2008. Do you think I would have gotten the new 3rd gear set?

This is really driving me nuts, because i just sold my last car becuase of transmission issues that a TSB didnt fix (horrific 2nd gear grinding like no other). The car was actually worse after having the "fix" performed.

I dont want this shit to happen with my brand new car let alone having a brand new transmission ripped apart.

Mine pops too, sounds like a tennis ball getting hit by a racket!
What did they try so far?

All warranty work is "free" in the sense that is included. You pay no additional fees for repairs covered under the factory warranty.

From Wikipedia

Technical Service Bulletins, or TSB's, are recommended procedures for repairing vehicles. Not to be confused with recalls, a TSB is issued by a vehicle manufacturer when there are several occurrences of an unanticipated problem. TSB's can range from vehicle-specific to covering entire product lines and break down the specified repair into a step-by-step process. While sometimes written by engineers employed by OEM's, the majority are authored by the first automotive technician to come up with a repair procedure. Because certain problems may have more than one cause or there are sometimes more than one way to fix a problem, it's somewhat common for there to be more than one TSB for the same problem.

I thought this was a useful article from Edmunds.com

You, Your Vehicle and the Technical Service Bulletin (TSB)

excerpts...

"And, of course, the best thing about finding a TSB that seems to cover a persistent problem in your vehicle is that dealerships will make the repair for free, provided that

Your vehicle is under warranty;

Your service advisor and/or technicians are able to confirm that the problem exists."

"A customer who makes an effort to sound intelligent (that is, provides a full description of the problem and demonstrates a history of regularly maintaining the vehicle) and to treat service writers (and technicians) with respect is more likely to find resolution for her vehicle's problems.

A further option, he said, is to arrange a meeting with the service manager and then, calmly discuss the matter (bring applicable service receipts). Usually, service managers will respond favorably to customers who ask, 'Could you help me out?', rather than ranting. The service manager and writers always have a manufacturer's representative (a field technician) whom they can contact. You might want to suggest that they try this, if they haven't already."

u prolly don't notice it like me... i never notice a grind and i only get an occasional pop-out on lazy shifting mode...

i took it in anyways...

they also found out that i never took it in for the other recalls: seat belt, ecu reflash (i was one of the first ppl to get this, just not on paper)
