took my car into the dealership I work at today, showed the service advisor the tsb (even she showed a sign of relief as she drives an exlv6 6 spd coupe). brought it into service 2 min later, diagnosed it and ordered the parts with no questions asked. parts should be here wed, takes 9 hrs to fix (I'm here thursday 9 to 9) so it'll be done by thurs night in time for the weekend+new wheels/suspension

if you live on long island and are close to Huntington Honda, come see us as my service people are easy going and don't ask questions if its a TSB

Did anyone notice that the TSB says:

NOTE: It's not uncommon to have resistance or notchiness when shifting into 3rd gear.

I mean, that's my whole problem. Is it saying that this is normal beahivour?

Yeah, that's a load of shit. Resistance or notchiness is normal? My ass.

Oh well, at least there is a fix.

all i know is that they did that to my car about a month ago, and it was fine but it starts again just like rickhilbert states. I filed my paperwork for lemon law in the state of florida and I got a final repair attempt coming up on may 1st. Though I love my car, this is honestly some %$#%$@ and I honestly just hate the car right now. And then the problem comes up when you try to sell the car or trade it in because it will show on the carfax that your car has had the transmission worked on. the dealership knowing this, will give nothing for the car when you are trading it in because they were only giving me 14k for my car which only has 9,000 miles on it just two weeks ago. Thats WAY too much depreciation for less than 1 year of ownership.

Yeah, but I'm thinking the TSB is telling any repair technicians to disregard any notchiness or resistance. In other words if there is "only" resistance or notchiness, then there is no need for a repair as this is normal for our transmissions.

^ Hahahaha good luck with that.

If anything, American Honda corporate was more useless than half the dealerships I've been to.

But it's on Honda's website.

LOL I was noticing the same thing.

Here's a breakdown of this:

Page 1 of the bulletin under the symptons, the last part before the note, it says that "....or is hard to shift into 3rd gear."

Then on Page 3 under the diagnosis there is that note:
"It is not uncommon for there to be some resistance or notchniness when shifting into third gear."

I don't get it. That's like admitting one problem, but then saying it's normal. What do you guys think, is it just me?

Oh and status for my TSB attempt as of 2:00pm-ish:

No call back from Pacific Honda or Fuller. I tried calling Pat at Pacific and got another VM. Called Fuller, and couldn't even get an option to leave a message, it just kept ringing.

800-999-1009 Use option 5

I was told today by "Jonathan" from Honda Tech line that they are aware of it officially now, (since the TSB is posted) but it's up to the individual dealership to decide if the TSB fix can will applied. I asked who/where would I want to go to escalate the issue past the dealership, he said that there is no escalation point. The dealership has final say.

Oh my case number is: N012008-04-1402257 but that probably won't help the situation.

Yeah, you can see how far I didn't get today. =)

I took my car to the dealership today and handed them the TSB. they couldn't get the vehicle to "act up" but they ordered the parts anyways. The one thing that sucks is that one of the parts is on backorder. I should have it done by the end of the month though. I've waited this long so I can handle a few more weeks. I even get a vehicle while mine is getting worked on. They have a S2K I'm going to try to get, like that'll happen. worth a shot though!

My dealership ordered the parts for me on Saturady, expecting me to be ready for them, haha.

My service manager Lisa told me that none of the parts were back-ordered at the moment, but perhaps they are now.

This may be of interest to Special Ringpop, for whatever it is worth.

I got a call from my Honda dealer. The appointment to repair the transmission is for this Thursday (April 17). Kind of nice, I didn't even have to bother calling them.
