Creaking noise from the back of the car. help!
First off, I absolutely love my new 06 Civic EX. I average somewhere around 38 mpg, and it rides extremely well in my opinion. Nonetheless, there is a strange noise that is coming from the rear of the car. It sounds like a creaking noise and only occurs when the car is going from 1-12mph. Furthermore it only occurs when the gas is not pressed.
After reading this forum frequently, I realize there is a rattling sound from the sub. The noise I have happens all of the time with the music off and on, so I know it has nothing to do with the sub. The noise mysteriously dissappers either when the gas is pressed or the car goes over 12mph. Has anyone had this problem? How did you fix it? Was your dealer of any help? Oh, I have a 2006 Civic EX A/T with about 1,100 miles on it. Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you RKM |

I have the same noise coming from the rear of mine and at the same speeds you mentioned, but only on the left side. It's not the rear shelf as a previous post eluded to because when I press down on the rear fender, I can hear it outside the car. I removed the rear wheel and felt around to see if anything was loose and nothing was. I'm just as miffed as you are on this.

My bad right rear shock was mostly noticeable at those speeds. Park on an uphill, turn off the motor and let it coast backward. It'll seem much louder with the motor off. Also, pull on the wheel and tap around in the trunk. If all that produces noise, have the service dude/chick put a stethoscope to the shock[s].

Have this on my Si too....driving me banana's!!! I have a feeling that it's coming from the inside of the cabin (not the damper). I need to sit in the back seat and press on things and listen for it but I just haven't brought myself to letting anyone else drive it yet.
I'm thinking the rear seat back might be doing it....Keep ya posted |

I'm glad I'm not the only person experiencing this problem. Supposedly, my dealership has a "noise" specialist. When I take the car in for the first oil change, I'll have the guy look at it. Luckily, I had two different service managers duplicate the problem, so at least they acknowledge it exists.
Also, this problem only occurs when the temperature outside is over 75f. It's strange indeed. I will keep you updated on what I hear. RKM |

If it's temp sensitive, it's probably the interior. There's a lot of plastic in there and mine makes all kinds of different squeaks depending on the weather, so many there's no way I'm ever going to track them all. That's what the cold air intake and subwoofer is for. "What squeak? I don't near nuthin!"

I have an EX coupe auto and had the same exact issue. I brought my car in at 1800 miles and they told me the suspension needs to be broken in. I was like ok whatever towards the service guy. Believe it or not, since the car was brought in I haven't heard the noise at all and my car now has 2800 miles.
