Will changing to Amsoil Syncromesh MTF void my warranty?

I drive a 2008 NHBP Si-dan

The Amsoil dealer I talked to told me that their system recommends some automatic transmission 10 viscosity fluid. He goes on to tell me that by putting the Amsoil Syncromesh MTF which has a 30 viscosity in, it can void my warranty if I ever take it back to Honda for Transmission problems.

I told him that this is what most other people who drives this car recommends. He tells me that it's not listed for my car. I then tell him that I can buy from someone else if he does want to sell to me. He then says he'll sell me what ever I want but he just wants to make sure. Then he notices that the Amsoil syncromesh MTF has "Genuine Honda MTF" in the description or something but it's not listed when he chooses my model. (He took down all the info, make/model/engine size/trans type) He then said he'll call his tech and see why it's not listed and if it's safe.

*UPDATE*

He called me back and says his tech says it does not meet the requirements that Honda specifies. He's willing to order it for me anyways says it'll probably be around 11 bucks a quart including shipping.

I told him I'll call him back.

I'm thinking I will go ahead with the order and risk it. I use my car as a daily driver so I don't beat on it when driving. I may take it to the drag strip 2 times a year.

If you are worried that they might notice you have changed the MTF to Amsoil, then your best bet is to have a couple of Honda MTF in your garage so you can switch it back to OEM before you visit the Honda dealer.

That's always an option. Will they be able to tell that I swapped it? I guess I'm not too worried since I've heard nothing but good things about AMSoil.

Since we're on the topic of oils. I'm planning on putting some Castro Syntec 5w30 into my engine. I'm at around 5k miles. I've seen threads where people used mobile1, royal purple but not Castro, I should be fine right?

Ive got GM friction modified Synchromesh in my tranny! Honda would never know its in there unless you take it to them for warranty work regarding the transmission in the first place! In which case id put Honda MTF back in just so they'd have no reason to turn the tables! Putting Synchromesh in my tranny has been one of the best mods ive done! Shifts like a hot knife thru butter!

^^ agreed. Anything that simple that fixes the 3rd gear sticking and makes revmatch downshifting to 3rd and 2nd much more consistent is well worth it!
Almost 1000 miles since I switched and not one gear sticking!

I just recently bought Amsoil 0W-30 motor oil/oil filter and the Synchromesh Transmission Fluid. the oil goes up to 35,000/1 year or 17,500 for severe condition. and the oil filter goes up to 25,000 miles guaranteed. so i'll probably change out the oil at 25,000 miles. i'm been hearing good stuff about the transmission fluid, but waiting till the 3rd gear tsb/recall comes out up, then i'll put it in. btw, "Synchromesh Transmission Fluid" is listed for our Si.

Check Here.....

AMSOIL - Synthetic Synchromesh Transmission Fluid (MTF) 5W-30

sounds to me if the transmission fluid is the problem then honda has a recall on their hands, not just a flush and swap because all the miles we have put on these trannies, i can guarentee after a year 16,000 miles my transmission has been treated horribly but not by choice, 3rd gear pop outs grinds, 2 gear grinds, gears not allowing you to go in, alright im ranting and complaining now

The salesman who I bought my car from said that he knew of the 3rd gear issues and that he heard the fix was to put GM Synchromesh in the tranny. If I ever switch it out, I'll probably go synchromesh... It should be able to be purchased same-day and then I'll have Honda put it in or maybe just do it myself.

I still don't trust AMSoil for 25K miles. I know they say "guaranteed" but I just can't imagine not changing the oil on a car for that long. I'll be using M1 Extended Performance at 5K miles on my engine. I'll be leaving the factory fill in until 20% or 5K miles, whichever comes first. If for some reason I hit 20% before 5K miles, I'll probably find a good dino oil to put in. I don't believe in synthetics until at least 5K miles.

The Castrol in my BMW and in my Mini don't get changed until the factory specified service intervals of 15k miles. I don't really trust it either, but it seems to be fine.

Yeah, it seems a bit crazy to me... but whatever they call for I guess. As long as you can prove that it was done at the scheduled service interval...

He recommends you put an atf in your manual transmission car? I know the viscosity of the Amsoil is a bit off of the Honda stuff, but all I've heard are good things about this product. I've got two quarts in the garage, going in when the weather permits.

I've used PP in my RSX-S and didn't really notice any difference over M1. Though I didn't have an analysis done on either of them, the PP performed, sounded, darkened, and burned off just as much as the regular M1. I would think M1 EP would be better cause of its fully synthetic base stock no?

I put some Castro Syntec 5w30 in the engine. I'm waiting for my AMSoil to get here so I can do the tranny. I don't have and have not yet experienced the 2nd / 3rd gear problems but I would like to prevent it if I can. I don't drive hard 'cept power shifting at the drag track couple times a year.
