Strange whoosh sound coming from car!?
Hey everyone,
I've had this interesting noise coming from my 07 SI (with the honda performance tires) recently. It sounds like a whooshing type sound, and I can't pinpoint what it is or if its even anything. Basically, recently I installed a P2R TBS (the only mod in my car) and put some air in my tires (my front tire was running a little low so I put around 34 psi across the board). Now I didn't really notice this problem until after I put air in my tires. But it could have happened after I installed the TBS, but i definitely don't remember it. Two nights ago it was the worst, and my girlfriend and my friend were riding in the car and they pointed out that its making a weird noise, so its def not just me. It sounds like its coming from the right back of the car, but I really can't tell. It is noticeably louder though thats for sure. And also, it seems to be proportional to the car speed, not the RPM's. When I'm going around 40-60ish its the worst and most noticeable. And if I put down the clutch, and the RPM's idle and I'm coasting on neutral, it still does it, which leads me to believe its not proportional to the RPM's, but I could be wrong. It even started making my rear speaker vibrate (or I think it was the rear speaker) the other night, and it was really really irritating (it was like an ear splitting high vibration), but I have not been able to replicate that specific scenario since. Could this be by any chance my ECU adapting to the TBS and letting some more air in, making the car sound like more air is passing through? Or could this have something to do with the tires being overinflated (I know the manual says they should be at around 32 psi)? Or is this something else and has somebody else had this problem before? Any help would greatly be appreciated, as I'd like to prevent a trip to honda if at all possible. Also, does anyone know if I take my car to honda would they say anything about the TBS being there? And also, is it possible to have the honda technicians install a hondata IMG? Would they do that? Anyway, thanks in advance. |

It's actually more of a humming sound or winding sound, kind of like an engine. Its almost like I have a second engine in my car thats goin to the tune of my wheels. I'm almost positive this has not always been this way because I only recently noticed it.
Nobody has ever experienced anything like this? |

Nevermind, went to the dealership to find out what was wrong. Said it was a wheel bearing, and that they had to special order the part.
Wheel bearings messing up at 15000 miles? Seems pretty early to me... Oh well, after Jiffy Lube almost destroyed my car, I'm never going to feel like my car is in perfect working condition anyway, so whats a wheel bearing or two. |
