grinding noise under hard braking?

today i heard once again for the 4-5 time a grinding noise when i was braking hard...a school bus came around a bend and guy in front slowed down quick road was pretty dry but had a few puddles....might have slipped a little but under the braking it definitely was grinding...i applied the clutch before breaking and i think i did every time i heard it...i am new to manual tranny is it the clutch being applied thats causing a grinding

it sounds like that is just a ABS, it kicks in fairly easy as a precaution.

if you are tapping the brake easily and you are getting this, your pads/rotors may be worn down.

How old is your car? Sounds like ABS to me. Are you breaking hard?

well im glad its normal....i get scared when i hear it...i dont hear it alot but it seems when theres a little wheel slip or the roads arent great it happens no matter what speed im going....the only thing is that it doesnt sound great it just sounds like metal on metal grinding but if its just the abs than i guess its ok, my last car didnt have abs so i gotta get used to it

It's normal.. just your breaks slapping and releasing quickly... purpose of ABS is to prevent a wheel from slipping and losing traction... These civics definitely air on the side of caution; very sensetive sensors... if you have VSA, it may even do it when you don't touch the brake pedal!
