Oil life indicator and automatic doors locking

Hi,

I owe civic lx.
while reading through topics I noticed that people talkin about some oil life indicator that shows the percentage of oil life.

The thing is I cannot find it anywhere at the bottom screen or the top screen. I tried pressing sel/reset button. It switches the screen from
temperature to fuel consumption to kilometer/miles passed.

The second question also about some feature I found here in forums but couldnt set up in my civic - the automatic door locking while driving more the 9 miles. The thing is I never hear the second click within 5 seconds.

Any help plzz

Eh? My LX has no temp options, or fuel consumption meters. It's kinda nice to see that they might exist somewhere. Or, is it possible you own a hybrid..?

Take the car back to your dealer, something seems wrong with the menu's that are set up for your car.

It's a regular LX model.
Another thing, I've searched the manual of the car also, not a sign about the
automatic door locking and oil life indicator.

Is it a US or Canadian civic? If it's US you should be able to cycle between The two tripodometers and the oil life.

Oil life indicator

I own an EX coupe with Navi, and I have the oil life indicator. I wonder if it comes with all models. Also, my doors never lock automatically.

You need to set up the automatic locking door feature on your car. It's not set from the factory unless your dealer does it for you before you pick up the car.

Automatic locking doors

Now that I'm already driving my car will the dealer set my automatic locks when I start the car? Will they charge me for it, and can I go to any dealer.

Sorry for the questions, this is my first new car!

Get out your manual. Read it. It tells you how to do it in there. It's like a 3 step process. Something like turn the car to the on position, hold the brake for 5 seconds, turn off the car, etc...very easy to do..

What I wrote up there is not correct...just an idea of what it is like...since you don't have a manual here you are...

With auto tranny:

Make sure the shift lever is in park, and close the driver's door.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON (II) position.
Set the parking brake.
Push and hold the brake pedal, then move the shift lever out of Park (P).
Push and hold the front of the master lock switch on the driver's door. You will hear a clicking sound, and after about 5 seconds, you will hear another clicking sound.
Release the switch, move the shift lever to Park (P), and turn the ignition switch to the LOCK (O) position for 5 seconds.

For manual:

Close the driver's door.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON (II) position.
Set the parking brake.
Push and hold the front of the master door lock switch on the driver's door. You will hear a clicking sound, and after about 5 seconds, you will hear another clicking sound.
Release the switch, and turn the ignition switch to the LOCK (0) position for 5 seconds.
Push and hold the front of the master lock switch on the driver's door. You will hear a clicking sound, and after about 5 seconds, you will hear another clicking sound.
Release the switch, and turn the ignition switch to the LOCK (0) position within 5 seconds.

As for the milage display:

To switch the information display between the odometer, trip meter, and outside temperature (if equipped), and engine oil life and maintenence service items, press the SEL/RESET button repeatedly (it says somewhere else that this is also where average fule consuption is displayed, so hopefully by doing this it will come up...). If not let me know...I will also try it later today...

Hope this helps...

Question

Cant get the automatic locks to work. Does it matter what position you put the shifter in when you take it out of park? And do you press the brake pedel the whole time through the process?

Thanks

hey this is pretty easily solved i believe, this process is also in the manual too.

I did it with my car (ex coupe 5spd) and all i did was pretty much the reverse of the last post where the guy copied the manual word for word. INSTEAD of holding the front part of the "lock" button, press and hold the "unlock" side of the switch for the whole 5 second dealie and you should hear the same clicks etc. This will auto unlock your doors when the key is turned to the off position. IMO its kinda handy for me, but it also sucks when you have passengers because it only unlocks the drivers door, and i ALWAYS forget to unlock for the passenger lol, and they never know how to get out because of the stupid lock design
