Amsoil MTF
So I've been thinking about replacing my MTF with Amsoil. I don't have any problems (yet), but I just want to take the most care I can. I've done plenty of searching and found this stuff to be preffered. I see that people love the way it shifts with it, but my question is, is it better for the transmission life as well? Also, can the dealer tell that you're not using Honda MTF and will they deny tranny warranty if it's not Honda MTF?

Well I'm super paranoid about my tranny now. I don't want to drive my Si for fear the transmission will fall apart. I beat the hell out of my EP3 for 40,000+ miles and never had a problem (dumb, i know). I even ground gears a dozen times (2nd mainly). But, I had my first grind (a fairly bad one) in the FA5 yesterday (1st-2nd) and now I'm worried my tranny is going to crap out. Is there a MTF that is better for the life of the tranny.

Alright, thanks for all of the help guys. You've been extremely helpful and answered my questions. So no one knows if Amsoil is better fro your tranny or not? No one knows, for sure, if Honda can tell what MTF you're using. The 3rd gear problem has made the news and there is a thread right below this one with a crapped tranny and the OP says he never drove it crazy.

That's really funny User_name:, as I've had the Honda MTF (the new stuff) in my car once, it made it slightly easier to shift for a month, then it was back to square one.
They replaced it last week, and on the way home, it popped out. Don't make blanket statements about fixes when you know nothing about them. The Honda MTF is not a fix. It's barely even a bandaid. Amsoil is better, obviously, but.. And given you don't even own a Civic (to my knowledge), I suggest you keep your mouth shut when telling people what to do with their cars with regards to buying and selling.
