08' Si Coupe

I will be picking my car up by the end of the week. My question is, is their anyone who actually likes the car\engine\tran, meaning is their anyone who is not having problems?
Too me, id think its most likley amature shifting\driving that is causing these tranny/clutch issues.

Thanks

I'm not sure if this is the right section or not, but I don't have probs with my tranny nor does my wife. I changed out the tranny fluid with amsoil synchromesh at 2k miles on both cars. I will keep changing it regularly to make sure it's good.

Just keep thinking that Carl Thomas. I've been driving a standard for 10 years. When you sit at a stoplight, with the brake and the clutch fully depressed and you can't shift the car into 3rd gear, it stops before 3rd gear engages, how is that amateur shifting?

Where's SpecialRingpop?? ha ha

I have had my 07 Civic for almost a year in april. I love the car.... No 3rd gear or other gear problems. Solid shifting vehicle. I have about 14600 miles on it.

just have it warmed up.....

ur prob should start as soon as u reach 1200 - 2000 K miles.

make sure ur gas is always full......for sum reason...when the gas is full...the gearbox feels butter smooth.

Did you change your fluid to amsoil before this stuff started to happen?

Do you let your car warm up on cold days? Did you change to amsoil before the problems started to happen?

Have you guys read this? :
Newbie guide for Manual Transmissions
Do you abide by it?

I also suggest that even after you change the tranny fluid over to the amsoil, you should service it (change fluid) every 20k or so. People with ep's were doing this (talonxracer) and their's wouldn't give them problems. It's not a hard task anyways. Do it every 4 oil changes or so.

I'm a former mechanic. I've met a lot of people and seen a lot of beginner motorcyclists come in to the shop with a blown 2nd gear from bad/rough shifting/missed shifts, etc.

I don't question the reality of a 3rd gear deficiency, but wonder has anyone on here driven their Si like a saint, and still have 3rd gear issues? Everyone else that I've ever met that I let drive my cars on the street thinks they are in a drag race and is trying to shift like they on meth(drugs). I usually cut the test drive short and make a mental note to never let them touch any of my vehicles again.

Maybe a poory designed transmission is exacerbated by the type of driver that the Si attracts. I'm staying tuned. In the mean time, I'm shifting smooth in my '08 si.

No matter how you drive the car, rough or not, third gear is evident.
