engine revving at idle

While driving an 08 lx home today, I stopped at a red light and the motor started racing up and down( about 1.5k to 2k) and when I took off there was no power. After pulling in a parking spot and turning the engine off, the car restarted and ran fine, but I had a cel. has anyone seen this before or have an idea what the cause is? The mods are a k&n intake, megan downpipe, magnaflow exhaust, and they have all been on the car for over a 1k miles.

air leak?

Check all the fittings and bolts then reset the ecu

Or take off the intake and put the stocker back on and then go to the dealer

Well at no point did it overheat, and I was in the middle of a 20-mile commute. I checked everything under the hood, but nothing was loose. I reset the ECU when I got home and it seemed to be fine...I guess we'll see. If it comes up again I think I'm with you asif.

id check your intake/manifold to see if theyre sitting tight and that everythings working properly. i dont have LX so i cant really be much help, but the Si's have some issues in the cold, and if your a/c is on at a light your tach can bounce a little bit occasionally...but i dont think thats what your talking about..

sometimes i have a similar issue when i drive the car for a while. When i apply brake while going to a stop the engine revs up 2 about 1.2-1.3 and then drops down back to normal.

OK....2 days later, and still nothing. Car running fine, and no CEL. Pretty sure that eliminates a vacuum leak. Anyone have another idea for a cause?

ok now we're at the 150+ miles since the incident. I wish I hadn't cleared the computer because now I have absolutely no clue as to the cause.

Check the following items..

Coolant level
MAF(mass air flow sensor)
Vacuum leak
and the most common item in this case the IAC (idle air control valve)
