Backing Up

Is it ok to not release the clutch all the way when backing up? I find that my SI idles very fast and if i release it all the way then I'm backing up way to fast. Is this bad? like for my clutch at all? Thanks.

its fine, but you'll be going pretty fast so be careful...

i usually feather the clutch for a little then throw it in neautral

Ya I don't let go either, just wanted to make sure I'm not doing any serious damage.

probably actually do more damage backing up with the clutch out at high speed than you would just feathering the clutch like you're supposed to

good thread OP.

I was actually wondering about this myself. Usually, i don't release the clutch all the way when backing up, but i dont slam on the gas (ie i feather the clutch). but lets say im backing up and going backwards some distance longer than usual, then i do release the clutch but very slowly (ie kinda like driving in first gear but only for the reverse gear).
