Exclamation PLEASE HELP!! with shifter cable bushings

I bought the corsport shifter cable bushings and I removed the stock ones fine but I couldn't get the small or large bushing in. The small one went in like half way but the large one wouldn't even go in at all like it wouldn't go in straight because it was like too big, one side of it would go in alittle when I pushed it then it would get stuck and be hard to get out. I know I got the right year and sized bushing. Any ideas on how I can get these to work? should I just soak them in WD or something?

also i ripped up the sides of the stock ones to get them back in so i need help asap please.

thanks

you can freeze them for an hour and they'll go in like butter, or you can do what i did before i knew about the freezing thing is put a little oil on it lol....but id go with the freezing.

put back your stock and try freezing it. the more you try you just going to make it stuck more harder.

If freezing doesn't work, you can try sanding the outer circumference with emery cloth to slowly reduce the diameter.

Just use plenty of lube to get it in there!

I just got it on there as far as could and then I wrapped a cloth around the shaft of a big screwdriver. i placed the shaft against the bushing and then tapped it with a hammer until it went on. kinda ghetto but it worked with no damage. so yeah, shaft against the bush(ing) and tap

anyone try using a stack of washers that are the same size? Thats what i did just to see if it makes a difference, it helps a little - i wonder how much more of a difference these corsport or those other bronzoil ones will do.

cost me about $3 and change - you just need one smaller diameter washer for the cable. had to sand down the washers just a tiny bit, everything was snugg and shifting feels stiffer and less play, but that annoying notch feeling is still there. Im hoping to get it to shift like the old B-series trannies where it goes in smooth as butter in every gear without any annoying clicks or notchiness if you know what i mean

they'll probably loosen up a bit over time, but why would you want to remove them? once you feel the difference you'll never want to take them out. are you worrying about the dealer making a stink if you have 3rd gear issues?

i also thought of another method for getting the big bushing on. you could cut a small piece off the end of some pvc conduit/pipe and tape it against the bushing then tap it with a hammer. by the way, if you freeze it, you'll have to get it out to you're car pretty quick to take adantage of the expanded hole. try wrapping a cold pack around it when you're taking it out to your car. good luck!
