Driver side door lock not working

as stated... the drivers side door will not lock/unlock when using the key fob or the switch from the inside. the switch from the inside does however lock/unlock the passenger side
i checked the fuse for door locks, number 25 interior fuse panel, and it's fine.
earlier today my gf and i noticed a burnt rubber type smell, and i think it came from the a/c. but after i parked the car and left her house, i couldn't get the a/c to make the same smell so it may have nothing to do with it.
i did put aftermarket speakers in the front doors, so i think i'll have to take the door panel off and check the wiring for any obvious problems.
when locking the car with the key fob, the parking lights do not light up now either. though i am thinking this is only because the door doesn't lock, but i didnt check headlight fuses as they are all in working order.
any help is appreciated.

deleted my original post made in this spot. thought my prob was similar to yours but put finger to keyboard before brain in gear .

I'm having the same problem with my drivers side door lock not working. My car was at the dealer all day last week having an oil leak fixed due to a defective sealing bolt and belt replacement. So, back to the dealer I go. I'll report back after I take it in, as to what's causing the problem. 300 miles and my warranty is up, yikes!
