Accident voids warranty?

Hey guys,

So I got into what I thought was a very minor accident ( I blew a tire while turning and the car skidded into a curb.) Body damage was minimal, but both wheels did hit the curb, which lead to the need for 2 new wheels and suspension work for front and rear..oh, and replacement of 2 Side airbags...

Anywhos, here's the issue. I took it to a local collision center as the car was undrivable. The car is now back in my hands (after 31 days, ugh!) and it just doesn't seem right. Paintjob aside, my main concern is the suspension. At times, I hear a squeaking noise, and the ride seems so rough now. When I brake, it would make a squeaking noise, like a small rocking motion.

Now, this is my concern: I picked up the extended warranty when I got the car, so would the dealership fix these noises for me? I'm going to take it back to the local shop, but I would prefer Honda to look at it. Don't know how well rounded a paint shop is when it comes to the Si suspension. Someone told me that once non-Honda-certified people work on my car, it will void the warranty for that area (ex. suspension). Is this true?

I'm not sure about the having non-Honda certified people work on it part...but since your crash messed up your suspension, they probably will not cover anything suspension related under warranty now.

oh no, really!? To clarify on the non-Honda-certified part, my friend said if I took it to a Honda dealership to get it repaired, it would've been covered under warranty still... And that as of right now, my suspension basically falls under the guarantee (if there was one) of the body shop... =(

Well, I'm not 100% sure...but here's a little story:

My front bumper began to peel around the headlights, and I took it in to have it repainted under warranty. The body manager said they needed to have my car for a day to look at it before they'd do anything. I took him over to my bumper and showed him the peeling paint, visible clear as day, and asked why they needed my car for an extra day, in addition to the day for repair.

I was told that they have to take the bumper off, inspect it AND the front end of my car for any signs of a collision...if everything checks out, they'd cover it.

I was never in a collision, so they repainted it for me.

I don't know if this applies to what you're asking, but I'd assume anything damaged in an accident will not be covered by Honda...your insurance company should back the repairs though, so you might want to start by talking to them.

I think you are confusing the two things. You had an accident. Accidents are being repaired by insurance. You have a choice choosing a repair shop. Not sure why you haven't picked Honda in the first place. Now if you are not satisfied with repairs done, you have to come back to the shop that fixed it. Honda warranty has nothing to do with it. If you were to take it to Honda in the first place, your insurance would still have to be involved. Now as soon as they see repairs done to the cars they will either charge you or tell you to go back to the shop.

If your suspension did not squeak before the accident and now after it does, then I would say you need to take it to the shop who did the repair. If they cant fix the problem, then take it to a honda dealer, If they can fix it, and its relalated to the accident, then your insurance should take over and fiqure out if the body shop is liable or not.

Now, if the problem is not related to the accident, then your honda warranty will cover it. What I am trying to say, it all depends on how the noise occured, once you figure that out, then youll know who to bill

good luck!

once you get into an accident they most likely will not cover the part that was damaged and replaced.

accidents suck! Especially when is not your fault. But i think on this one, is on the shop. Did they give you any warranty on the work they did?

Anyway does anyone how eventually accidents end up showing like on Carfax?
