Remote Start w/ Viper 5900

Hey guys...I'm trying to get a remote start feature put on my Si, but the guy at the shop I went to said that the chip in the key is too big to mount onto the ignition area, so he is telling me to go and buy some kind of box that will be mounted somewhere else in the car with my second key so it will transmit the code to the car so it will be able to remote start.

How did you guys do remote start on your Si, if you had it done? Did you guys need that box thing transmitter...?

I don't have an SI but I do have remote start on my LX. The box he's talking about is a bypass box, at least that's what my installer called it. I also had to give up my valet key to be put in the bypass box.

yeh i think my installer called it the by pass module.
but I getting one where the module will remember the key and do not need to have it placed in "box" anymore.

I have a clifford avanguard 5

Don't do it! the worst thing is pressing your starter button and suddenly...

BAM right into a wall because you left it in gear.

The remote start I have is built specifically for manual transmissions. The owner's manual even states "Not to be installed in automatic transmissions".

I have to put the car in "Reservation Mode" before I can remote start it. To put into "Reservation Mode", I have to have the car in neutral, handbrake up. I then have to tap the brake twice and the car's doors will unlock. I now have a minute to take the key out of the car and get out of the car. The car will still be running until I close the driver's side door. The car shuts off as soon as the door is closed. That's how the remote start knows that the car can be safely started.
