Tranny blew...

Sound like part of a late night google image search ?? Well, it's not...

Some of you may remember my 3rd gear problem, and subsequent replacement...
well it's been shifting smooth ever since and I was sure things were on the mend. Saturday as I left a friends house I noticed a strange whining coming from the trans.
The sounds got louder as I proceeded home and eventually became a grinding and the shifter began shooting out randomly. I had to nurse it home and by that point it sounded like rocks in a dryer anytime I let the clutch out.

So, for the 5th time in 3 months I'm in a loaner car from the dealership waiting to hear about how bad it is this time.

Well, it's settled; I'm done with Honda. From the rattles, poor trim quality/fitment, suspension noise and of course the 3rd gear, I'm fed up.

I expect more form a company that markets itself as a reliable carmaker. I think I'll just go back to Nissan...

It's a pretty cut and dry scenario.

Yes, I'm sure there's just tons of Si owners that are buying GTRs next...

I'm not a huge 350Z fan tho, I'd probably get an Altima SER or older maxima.

Damn that sucks ass. Hopefully it gets repaired and you can sell it for decent cash.

Id get an 08 2.5s, nice car for the money, just not a sporty car.

Dang man, that sucks. Good luck. On a lighter note: What rental did they give you? Mine is currently at the dealer and I might have to get one...

I've had some awesome rentals actually:
07 accord v6 coupe
06 accord sedan w/navi
06 Camry
07 Impalla
and now I'm in an 06 accord v6.

Since buying the car in December, I've spent almost as much time in rentals as I have in my car.

Maybe you just can't drive a manual to save your life. My tranns. sucks too but I doubt it'll blow within 20k miles.

You're probably right...I mean I've only been driving a stick for 15 years, it takes a good 20 to get good I hear. FOAD

I'm guessing that it blew because when they replaced 3rd gear they didn't torque something right or left out some mundane part. I don't know, and I don't care.
Anyone of you honda loyalists want to buy an 06 Si?? I mean honda can do no wrong after all and it's always the driver's fault right??

idiots...

Length of time driving it doesn't really matter in the end. It takes a week to get the principles of a manual down.

And if you're right, then that's not really Honda's reputation on the line for building a solid car. That's some morons mistake of not putting it back together right.

Sorry to hear your tranny **** out on ya. I am on my way out as a Honda fanatic. Nissan has perked my interest for a few years now and eventually I plan on picking up an S14 and doing a swap. So far I've had pretty good luck with my Si, but that's not to say that it will continue. Good luck with what ever you choose. Take it easy man.

It's a pretty cut and dry scenario.

I put 60k on my 03 Sentra that I traded in for my Civic. I only had to put a $200 part on the car in the 3+ years I owned it. I got good gas mileage and the car had no model wide problem that the car maker pretended didn't exist.

I'm sorry you're having so many problems with your Si. So far, the only problem I have is the 3rd gear issue. If mine got to the point yours did, I'm sure I'd get rid of it too.
