People with 3rd Gear Issues not reporting this to Honda??

Today I called Honda of America's toll-free number: 1-800-999-1009, to try and find out if a solution was on the way to fix the third gear issue. The rep was very friendly in listening to my concerns and noting my case. However I asked her if this was the first time she has heard of this issue. She verified she has heard it for other models (Odessey, Accord, etc) but NEVER for the new model Civic Si. The same was when I went to my dealership. If sooo many people are having this problem, are you guys NOT calling Honda or complaining to your dealerships? I severely doubt she was lying to me. So if you are having this problem call 1-800-999-1009, option 3 and complain rather than bitching on the forums about it. Also come back to the forum and post your case number that way when we call back we have X number of cases we can tell honda LOOK its just not me.

My case # No32008-02-0800296 and my rep was Bertha

I have started contacting dealers around me and asking if they are aware of the situation. I have also provided them with a link to Fox San Diego news.

People really need to call HOA and then also talk to the dealers, most dealers won't even report this to HOA.

Many, many, many people have reported this to Honda, and every time they've said "We've never heard a complaint about this before."

What a load of shit. Seriously. I have a dozen case numbers from people who posted them on here before. When I asked about them, I was told "Those case numbers don't exist".

a dealer near me has recently rebuilt a 06+ Si transmission for 3rd gear. they replaces the synchros and a few other parts. it varys dealer by dealer.

chances are the rep you spoke to on the phone is just trying to get information and hope it all blows over. but if they actually go and look in their database, chances are they will see a few complaints. its all about doing as little as they can and getting paid for it....

I don't think that people are not calling. Honda is just no going to make it known that there is a problem. How many Si are there in the U.S alone. Now multiply that by the cost of repairs for a transmission.(More costly part on the car). They dont want a recall. That would affect their stocks. They will recall the part however if it were to cause an accident. But until then they will just be looking into it.

Just got off the phone with a very nice man from HOA, i totally ripped the stealership that has replaced my trans fluid 6 times and refuses to do anything else. Ironically, i also got a phone call from honda for my phone service survey ha ha ha ha, but of course i know how those things affect people's jobs so i kept my emotions out of it and was plain honest.

to sum up
I have a case number
Will be contacted by the regional guy
and will be seaking some sort of compensation for 2 years of hassel(hell i'll take a free service)

i have noticed more people are having trouble with the honda customer support line than with dealerships, and i think i know why this is.. ever call ANY customer support line for ANYTHING? notice how they never know much? do you know why? they are just reading off the computer screen, and most of the time do not actually know anything about cars, computers, or whatever they are working on.. i will call dell or something and say my computer keeps freezing up, and they start having me do all sorts of stuff that CLEARLY isnt the problem, and i explain that to them, and all they say is "yes but i need you to do this" because they truely have no idea what is going on.. my point is, dont think that the customer support for anything are ever experts, they just have an advanced automated help/support thing on their computer.. btw i never said this is always true 100% of the time, its just the case more than half the time

At my dealership, they always claim that either they (1) haven't heard of the problem before or (2) don't get too many reports. When I got my transmission looked at for the 2nd & 3rd gear grinding, the shop foreman said he hasn't heard of this issue before, but has heard of it on the S2000, especially the notchiness. He also added the same that he has seen more transmission problems with the Odyssey, Element, and Accords (IIRC).

If Honda had been dealing with it, rather than vehemently denying it, something would've been done long ago.

I've had a worse experience with Honda Corporate (Customer Service) than the dealership. My advisor was quite possible the most unpleasant woman I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. How she has a job is beyond me.

I suppose it works well for Honda. Be rude to the customer so they don't call back. And while you're at it, be completely and utterly useless.

Never have I brought in the car for my 3rd gear grinding thought I have had the car a year, even though I like my dealership I always feel as if I am personally being questioned and not the problem with the car, I would love for the grind to go away because this is the first car I myself am paying for and hoping to have it for another 5 years at least till I make more money to upgrade.

I havent reported the problem because my car already had problems, loose passenger seat bracket would have costed like 800 bucks they had to remove the whole set and brackets disconnect all the sensor order a new peice. Finally when i got it fixed within 3 mins of getting back into car i noticed the seat cover was loose and my exhaust tip was bent on the bottom, I brought it back and they seemed to question me and ask how i could have noticed the bottom of my tip pushed in, he claimed i could have bottomed out sometime and its been there but there was no scrapes or scratches on it all consistent with bottoming out, the tip would have had scrapes all over the bottom from hitting the ground but it was in pristine condition it was just bent in like a mechanic had hit it with something, after arguing and being questioned he finally said he would order a new one for me but i never brought it in to get it changed for the fear I would become a bad customer and have them **** something else up.

Im really scared of complaining too much as a customer, its why if im at a fast food place and my friends are acting like jackasses in the car saying shit to the person I wont buy the food ill drive off after we order it. I dont want more problems caused by the problems I already have specially after knowing as of right now most dealerships do nothing about it. If i had loads of money I would do it but i cant afford more problems as is.

Michael, I agree with you about not wanting to cause problems or appear as a crybaby, but the simple fact of the matter is that a $6.00 Happy Meal is not the same as a $20,000 car.

My service manager Nancy at Walser Honda tells me "You may be more in tune with your car than most owners who come in here, but if you aren't happy with something in this car, you have EVERY RIGHT in the world to continue complaining about it until it is fixed. Please don't ever think I'm bothered by the fact that you continue to come in for a recurring problem: just because we can't replicate it doesn't mean it doesn't exist."

You have every right to bring the car in for service if something isn't going right.

ill be picking mine up monday, and im thinking about an extended warranty, since the tranny sucks.. too bad it will probably just powertrain only, since lots of people have had trouble with a lot of the interior things.. $900 for an extra 50,000 miles or better would be fine to me, as long as there is no deductible
