lol at about 99% of the answers of this thread...

Vtec = extra lobe on camshaft... either for power or for fuel economy.
I-vtec = VTC + VTEC in K series
I-vtec = vtc and ecu controlled TB in R series

BIG misconception in the R18 motor is that there's a power lobe... Well the R18 doesn't it simply (lol) phases the camshaft to allow the TB to remain WOT at pretty much all time. It remains open during the compression stroke to compensate for the extra air in the chamber.

Ok cool, I just traded my si about a month ago for one also and was not sure what all the differences were and or why. Thanks for all the info! You notice the vtec kick in but not as much as you do with the si. I like the car so far.

Pictures of my car have been posted under driving experience. It was the TW Accord coup V6 with 6 speed MT. I don't have the pictures with me right now but you could go there and do a search and find it or just look at one on honda.com. Ok to be honest I am not up to date with going to some other web page and posting the pictures and then putting the link on here so you can see them. Some one else was nice enough to do it form me back when. I will see if I can find it and post something to bring it up to the top.

the Accord 4cylinder both auto/manual have ivtec... the V6 has ivtec only on the automatic version... the V6 manual is just vtec...

this is b/c the auto has VCM also whereas the manual doesn't have that feature...

By the way the newer Generatino i-vtec engines do not have the sparkplug and injectors siting at an angle its directly above the Piston and ignites that way which is more intellegent ofcourse

what?.. thats not right.
that has nothing to do with vtec or the i(ntelligent) for that matter.
that just depends on whether to motor is inline or V or whatever.
