How long does it take for your SI to turn over?
I've been noticing that my Si has been taking longer and longer to startup from a cold start. When I first got the car...as soon as I'd turn the key it would turn over within one or two cranks of the starter. Now it takes about 5
cranks of the starter before she starts up from a cold setting. How long do you guys typically turn the key before the car actually turns over? And how long is too long for a honda? (the reason I ask is because my girlfriend's ex starts up almost immediately...whereas mine takes like 2-3 seconds of cranking). |

Mine does the same thing! I was thinking it was just mine though. Could it be the battery? Mine takes about 1 - 1.5 seconds, but thats long enough to get a few cranks in, longer than it should anyways.

Mine is probably half to three quarters of a secong like radiohead was saying. It used to be instant when I first got the car, but recently its taken a little longer. Doesn't really bother me as its still just one crank.

try putting your key in your ignition, turn it to the 2nd setting(where everything is on including fans). As soon as you turn it there wait for a click noise, it should take about two seconds. just listen and you will hear it. whenever you hear then start the car, it will start much quicker.

I don't feel like taking it in again though...I'll probably wait a bit and see if it gets worse. I just hate having to crank it twice sometimes when it's a brand new car. |

Mine takes a second to start also. I don't think this is a problem. I believe it is supposed to do this, it reduces emissions somehow. I know there was a big thread on acurazine about this on 3rd gen TL's and it was looked into VERY well and proven that it was true, and wasn't just a coverup by honda. I wouldn't be concerned unless it won't start at all.
