So it grinds every time for some of y'all?

It's happened to me ~4 times I guess, and I've had the car (bought it used with 12k miles) since the beginning of December. It's not a huge issue yet, but it does make me cringe every time it happens. I've learned to make sure I use a little bit more force for whenever I shift into 3rd now.

it doesn't grind every time. i'd say 2-3 out of every 10 times i attempt to shift into 3rd up or down. i've learned to deal with it a few different ways as well man, however i'm tired of "dealing" with it. i want it fixed. if it doesn't happen, i trade it in.

^ +1 with Jordan.

I'm getting to the point where I can "predict" when it isn't going to fully engage (and make myself hold it in third for the few secodns it takes for the car to realize it has no choice but to go in third.

Othertimes it wants to pop out, I can just "feel" the tension.

Shuoldn't have to deal with this problem on any car. Such bullshit.

Eh, I kinda gave up trying several months ago. My trips to the dealer haev been purely for periodic maintence as of late, and not much else. I got sick of spending hours there every other week if not more frequently, taking care of the rattles and other quality issues I seem to keep having with this car.

The dealer was sick of me for expecting my Honda to be a Honda, and I was sick of them for having third rate service and a beligerant attitude towards customers. How much evidence do I need to put in your face about third gear issues being a very real reality before you start taking me seriously. It's not my fault you can't allegedly replicate it, but send a tech home with me, I'll giev him food and water, and he can drive with me during the day, where he will easily see it happen a good dozen times.

Meh. I love my car, just getting discouraged is all. I hope the fix is coming, but even still, I'm scared about it. How often is it that a relatively new to brand new car has to get their tranny ripped open and have the gearbox replaced in under 20,000 miles...not really cool.

lmao...i'm fortunate to have a family member that works at my local Honda Dealer. i am well taken care of there. i dropped my car off with TWM short shifter, base and cable bushings installed as well. not an issue. i hope you get yours taken care of sooner than later man.

I know what you mean. Sometimes I'll be getting ready to let the clutch out and think, "hold on a second... OH NO YOU DON'T" and shove it the rest of the way into that last notch.

I feel bad for you guys that are being hassled by the dealerships... Most of the dealerships in Houston are aware of the problems and will automatically change the tranny fluid first and if problems arise again they will check out/fix the transmission :).

shifting too fast avatar thief. i had the problem when i first got the car. it happens very rarely now, actually it's been quite a few months. you'll get it down man. slight pause between shifts, shift sooner, or hit the limiter and shift. i'm not saying bounce off of the limiter, just hit it and it will send the rpms shooting down allowing you to bang second w/out any issues. takes a lil practice and timing.

lol @ portabuddys first post...

subscribed for later.

btw i have a grindy/notchy 2nd and just a notchy 3rd...

its ridiculous i have 9.1k on my car too and 2nd grinds almost everytime..it never kicks out just grinds going in...3rd is notchy and if i dont get it past the first notch and let the clutch out itll grind/kick back into neutral..same problems most of u have..doenst matter if the cars cold or warm..still does everything just not as much when its warm...but enough to where is annoying.
