2nd and 3rd third are actually notchy. Yesterday when i my car was on a dynapack the guy running the dynapack acutally witnessed the 3rd gear pop out. I really do hope they fix this problem. I havn't notified my dealership, should i?

Because it's such a gross oversimplification. Just because your wheels don't start moving on its own in neutral doesn't mean the transmission is fine. A bad syncro means the car has problems connecting the gear to the layshaft and consequently the engine. So a bad syncro has absolutely nothing to do with jacking a car up and seeing if the wheels move in neutral.

The only way to tell if your transmission is borked is to open it up. Aside from that it's assessing the symptoms (pop-out, grind, etc).

thats odd... on a flat surface if i put it in 1st and hold the clutch it will begin to roll ever so gently...... or if im parked on a incline, a very very slight incline faceing up and i let go of the brake it stays put then if i hit the clutch and put it in reverse(that is it it goes in the first time...) and hold the clutch down, not lifting it for a instant the car will begin to roll backwards slowly......

but i already know that my sinchros are fudged up. yesterday and today i had my 4th popout 3-4 times. and 3rd gert tottaly rejected with me appling pressure to the shifter at the time... that was violent.

TOOO FUNNY!!!! The ad just before it played the story was the "Love for Honda Sale" at all 8 Honda dealers in the San Diego area.. Ironic?

"Falling in love with the new Civic has never been easier..."

Why are you complaining about what he did. This man deserves to be bought many many a strong beer for what he did.

He's done more for this problem than most people on this forum combined. Outside of Vince, I can't imagine anyone else having done more.

Hopefully this will spawn people to start calling news teams (I'm on the verge of it, and you can rest assured I won't be nearly as nice as he was in saying how poor the experience has been).

After all he did, you berate his dirty car and makign resale value fall.

If this is what Honda quality is, the resale value SHOULD fall.

Also, can someone upload this to YouTube or make it available for download. I feel this should be spread across the internet for everyone to see. It's time to riot: Honda's time of ignorence with this problem is over.

Who cares? You're not one of the very, very many who DO have a problem with the transmission.

Go play in the "I don't have third gear problems" thread with the other two people in it and continue to ignore reality.

If you don't have tranny problems, stop pestering those of us who do with drivel. Our problems are very real, and very immediate, and we don't need to be hampered anymore (we're getting stoned by Honda enough) with "flawless" quality drivel.

I don't mean to be rude, and I realize not everyone has transmission problems, but that's common knowledge. Those of us WITH problems are trying to get it fixed, not reminded that we got shafted with subpar parts.

Wow! i can't believe I missed the protest. i live in escondido and bought my car from that dealership. i'm on this site everyday and i still missed this thread. oh well. props to the op for organizing the protest and getting fox6 to run the story.

last summer i brought my car to the service department there and the service writer told me he had never heard of this issue before. honda must train these people to dish out these lies

it's kinda weird, but when i installed a short shifter, shifter & cable bushings, and flushed the tranny fluid, the problem seemed to go away. (knock on wood)
