whoa! i really want to buy a si..but it seems that the 08 models have a bad 3rd gear as well..tell me is it really that bad..how often does it pop out ot gear and or not fully engage

i drove my friend's si not to long ago [maybe like 3 weeks ago] it popped out
i went on a ride with my friend tonight...it popped out
it happens a good bit

Follow up April 2... Have not had a 3rd gear grind or kick out since the fluid change. The transmission feels quicker, more responsive and fun again. I highly recommend the new synthetic Honda fluid.

Mine did not last for more than a few months. Maybe you'll be luckier?

Don't get discouraged. Some do and some don't. Mine does not, but it's new. My friend (sales guy) has had his Si for 2 years - never a problem. Other Mechanics at the dealer have had there's for over a year - no problems. I would be frustrated if I was having to deal with it though

I've been trying to get 3rd gear resolution for the past 6Months every single time they touch my car it gets worst. My 3rd and 4th Gear now pop out and I have trouble at times getting the car into reverse.

Crossing my fingers, mine doesn't grind or pop out BUT it is hard to get into third at times. I baby my car so who knows, plus I dont ride my third gear.

people are talking like its the driver NOPE the honda 6 speed manual syncros and messed up and should be fixed for free by the dealer it happened to me my car is in service right now ...getting back today will post the report and that shit better not say no problem found

Agreed. I was right next to him the whole time. Whether or not Juan actually was the reason for the TSB or not, who knows, but what I do know is he did a lot more than the people who just sit around and bitch.

That's something I've noticed. For every ten people who complain about third gear, only one or two even bothered to use the Case Numbers thread we made.
