That's ridiculous, it's not up to you to engineer ways around problems the car shouldn't have in the first place. Why the **** would you pay all that money for a new car and then be expected to deal with a faulty transmission? And it's not as if it's an isolated case, obviously.
That's absolutely ludicrous to think that the consumer should have to deal with the problems of a design flaw, especially when the car is under warranty. Most ridiculous response to the 3rd gear grind issue I've even heard... |

I left my car at the dealer 2day to see what would they come up with(3th gear prob). I also had a scratch and i try 2 remove it and the clear coat came off.. i had a dashboard defect and my plastic door covers make noise.. ill let u know what happen when i get it back...... I think the only way 2 win this is by contacting JD Power & Associates and complain 2 them i bet they will do more then the dealer or Honda corp.

Sounds like they did the same to you that they did to me (I also was accused of major clutch wear producing the problems). If you haven't yet, call Honda of America and open a ticket with them. They suggested I try another dealer, which I'll be doing hopefully later this week. I've had, and complained about the problem since before my first oil change almost a year ago now.

I finally took my FA5 in for service maintenance for the first time since I purchased it. (2nd owner, purchased with 12k and now has about 14.5k).
I mentioned 3rd gear to them and said that I know for a fact it is a huge problem among Si and RSX Type-S owners. (it's only notchy right now, has grinded maybe 4 times since purchase, but has never "popped out" on me yet). I knew they weren't going to be able to do anything, but I figured another complaint couldn't hurt, and I wanted to have it documented. When they called to let me know that it was ready to be picked up, the service man said that although he couldn't replicate the issue, he is aware of the problem and said that he knows about the many complaints, but until Honda makes any service bulletins or recalls, there is nothing he can do about it. I then asked about the "updated transmission fluid" and he said he hadn't heard about it. He was really nice about it, and sounded like he understood the frustration that Si owners have, but he didn't make it sound like Honda was going to release a recall anytime soon... |

Chiming in here. I had my tranny fluid replaced at a non-dealership. My mechanic called Honda to make sure he was putting the right stuff in and they told him about new Synthetic fluid for the 6 speed gearbox. He ordered a case from Honda, filled and ran it 3 miles, flushed the tranny and refilled it. I have only driven it a day but I didn't experience any of the 3rd gear problems I had for the past 4 or 5 months. The fluid was pricey I'll see if it was worth it. I have about 7500 miles on a 2007 sedan.
