i am having the 3rd gear problem also, but it doesnt happen all the time even though it clearly feels different then the other gears everytime i put it into 3rd, it only pops out some times. if i bring it to a dealer to look at or file a case with honda will it be a problem that i have an aem intake? does that viod warrenty and should i put the stock one back in before i do anything?

I haven't done it yet, but will changing the MTF to AMSOIL void anything? Should we wait on Honda's response to this report. I'm experiencing grinding and notchiness on the 3rd. Overall "solution" was to make sure the clutch was completely engaged and take special care when shifting into. This isn't necessarily the case for the other gears, which makes it unnatural when shifting.

Thanks for posting the vid, I'm from San Diego and work in a media office for the County, I'm surprised I missed this one of all stories!!! =)

I would be more than willing to get a Fox 9 Investigative Report in the Twin Cities Minnesota area to do a report, but I can't do it by myself...I need people in the area who have also had problems (and had no luck at dealerships/corporate Honda).

I am done playing games. Honda has bitch slapped me one too many times over this and I'm tired of being played.

VW?

Just wondering why do you recommend VW to me? Do you have good experience with them?

Meh. My theory of some people on this forum is this: If you have a problem with the car, they feel, and feel the need to "whine" about it, as so many Hondahumpers claim, you should just sell it and allow them to remain in their ignorant bliss that there are very real problems with this car that stand in utter contrast to what Honda is all about.

I don't know about you, but I grew up being told never to give up. And I'm not giving up on getting justice for this car. I don't take kindly to being one-upped [over and over and over and over] by a company whose reputation is one of the most reliable, solid car makers in the planet.

P.S. User - did you end up test driving those used Si's? You told me you'd keep me up to date on it. How'd it go? (You better find one thing to complain about else I'm gonna bish slap you :laughing. Just playing.

i spoke with john on the phone for about 10 minutes today, he called me asking for some help with his next follow up story. he wanted to know about any local san diego shops he might be able to speak with regarding this issue.

he told me how he has spoken with honda and hasn't gotten very far just like us.

if anyone reading this knows of some san diego honda/acura specialists shops or mechanics you think he should know about chime in. i was going to tell him about green light and hunda.

i'll keep you guys informed when i talk to him next.

That says loads about Honda right now to me. Their incredible arrogance and stubbornness, paired with their massive hypocracy in being customer focused (yet claiming no interest in helping out when shit hits the fan) speaks loads about the company.

I think I'll go back to domestic. At least the minor problems I had with them got fixed the first time by the dealerships, who actually listened to me.

i think it would actually add to the story if they still try and contact this Hunda automotive place to get their story...that they are a honda/acura specialist that has never heard of that problem.

Alerted Autoblog

Hey guys,

Not sure if they will care but I alerted Autoblog of this problem and the Fox News broadcast. I would love to see more widespread coverage of the problem to help put the pressure on Honda. I "luckily" only have a rare problem engaging 3rd gear when its cold but, overall, it seems to be more problematic than my 02 RSX Type-S so I am keeping an eye on it.

Regardless, Tsume has my respect. What if the United States founding fathers had access to web forums and were content bitching online. "You can't change British rule dumbass!" would have littered the boards as people mocked their complaints. Sometimes things have to be escalated to force real change. As much as I like Honda vehicles, they are not above reproach.

I have also sent Autoblog the materials multiple times, but I they have never done any bit on it. Although, they always seem to always harrass Toyota though about little stuff. I'm kind of skeptical about the site now.

It is a shame Honda wont step up! The six speed trannys have been problems in Hondas from the start. 2nd and 3rd gear in all of them.

My answer to all the problems I had with my EX was a Mazda. And thats really a pretty sad fix. Most of the issues I saw in my car are now recalls or TSB. Hondas over all attention to detail and customer support has really got weak.

I haven't given up on Honda. As Im really looking forward to CR-Z! But my over all trust meter is hovering just above the General Motors mark right now.

I very much wanted a TL 6MT. But at this point its been dropped off the wish list completely. In favor of a BMW 1er or G37s.

At one point there were six Si's in my small town of 13k people. Thats a pretty good ratio. I would think! And all but one are gone now. And the last standing black Si sedan hasn't been seen in a week or so. I know for a fact two of the cars were traded off because of the tranny issue. Two others traded because of other quality issues.

Its sad. Honda is loosing some of its faithful. And if they don't turn it around. they won't be bale to replace them. The word is spreading faster than Honda thinks.

Good Luck Six Speeders

I can't say mine is "popping" like I've seen in the video. I have always had the problem if I shift into 3rd without putting the clutch all the way in, it will grind. At the same time, my friction point is very low on my clutch, so it could just be sloppiness.
