Honda fixed my 3rd gear under warranty a year ago, and I thought my tranny problems ceased. Unfortunately, I'm realizing 1st to 2nd gear is a problem now. When I shift to 2nd at WOT and at the redline, it grinds in. I'm not sure why it does it, but it does it quite often--maybe 40% of the time. Since I had to gnash my teeth to get the 3rd gear issue fixed, I'm dreading confronting the dealership about this.

I already have Amsoil, so there's no simple remedy to this. The clutch pedal is completely down, the car completely warmed up (65-70 degree day today)... so frustrating.

Well I emailed all the threads, and the video link (the youtube one because face it...youtube is so well known its more intimidating in my opinion.)

22 emails sent to 22 different dealers. One response so far....

"Thank you for the information you have provided. We have not had anyone come into our location with this issue. However, we will keep an open mind incase the problem arises"

Not sure what the fck that means, but I am going to continue to update

The only gear i have issues with grinding is 2nd and occasionally 3rd just won't engage. i have to put it in neutral, let of the clutch, put the clutch back in, then go into 3rd haha... fun stuff. I hope something comes out of all this.

I am laughing so hard right now, and crying on the inside.

I opened a second case file last night, and my "new" case manager called me. It was the same woman I had last time, even though last night I told the woman I talked to that I did NOT want to deal with Kenitra.

Last time (the first case file), she called me, was very rude, and when I told her I had class from 11-1 everyday and could not take her calls, she continued to call me everyday between 11-1. After a week, she said "apparently we're playing phone tag here. I don't know what you want me to do wtih this problem. Your dealership can't replicate it (which was my complaint to begin with), so I'm closing your case. Thank you."

So...she closed my case without ever talking to me.

So she calls me back during 11-1 today (the new case file). I call her back at 1:15, guess what...got her voice mail.

This is going to be fun...AGAIN.

I tried twice. They won't do anything about it. The supervisor he claims to have spoken to said they won't switch it.

I'm calling back in a half an hour and requesting to speak to a supervisor. I've had it.

Every manual tranny i have owned did that. what i do is slide it into reverse, then back to first. Same if you cant get into reverse, slide it into 1st then to reverse.

Cheers

Had my 2nd-3rd synchros replaced as well as third gear bout 6 months ago and mine is already starting to have the same symptoms it did before the new stuff. I know its not my driving cause I am not hard on the transmission at all. Sure i wind it out to vtec but i never shift hard. Hell this tranny is to delicate for that. I'm not taking it back to the dealer till i know there is a fix. I mean whats the point? Its just gonna mess up again again till they finally get it right. BTW, do all the 6 speeds do this? TSX, Accord, RSX. If so then why the hell are they still using the tranny shit and why are we the ones having to put up such a fight. Surely these other owners are going through the same stuff.

If your syncros were bad to begin with, you would not beable to get it into that particular gear period. Thats why you are having troubles now. prolly shiftes better cause the new fluids they put in tranny when they put it back together...
