That is the most ill-conceived thought I've heard all day. Defamation is making a "false" claim, something "implied" to be factual, aimed to harm the reputation of someone or a business. I don't see any false accusations of Honda on Juan's part.

In fact, the worst thing Honda could do would be to file a suite for Defamation against him. First of all, there is no way Honda could win. Second, they would draw so much negative attention towards themselves it would damage their reputation. Third, the case would most likely end up on Juan's side, which in turn would make Honda fix all the failing transmissions.

I've given up on him, dude, he's a lost cause, and it's not just because he disagrees with me.

Many of us have looked into lawyers and weighed the benefits.

However, you are correct: the cost would be high, and we all know Honda has more money than we do. Money buys friends in high places and money insulates you from backlash most of the time.

Still, if we win, which we definitely would, no doubt in my mind, we sure as hell wouldn't be paying the lawyer fees. Honda would be fronting that bill and taking it up the ass for providing a flawed product, which they should be required by law to fix.

I really think defamation was just the word of the day in English class.

People these days think they can sue anyone for any reason without knowing the legal implications.

"Oh no! There's a finger in my Wendy's Chili! I'm going to sue! "

Of course she planted it there.

you guys have looked into loyers because of a small tranny problem?

I mean i have been on you side all along but getting a lawers and going after the corp is just plain stupid... all they have to do i show some phoney resurch that they are working on the problem and that they will have a solution in two-three years and you loose, you pay all the nonesense legal fees... not them.

right now the "we are looking into the problem" brushoff is worse then the "you suck at driiveing" one. This is because now the are "on your side" they are trying to fix the problem, they are working with you. you cant really get mad at them there is nothing to prove to them if they know that there is a problem

They dont have to do anything, just aslong as they say that they are looking into the problem, thats enough...

I'm sure Juan has his own lawyer, or he contacted a lawyer about his situation. It doesn't hurt to consult a lawyer if you're going to protest or something similar. It is good to know that you're in the clear and aren't breaking any laws that could bite you in the butt.

well i had tranny issues with mine and after I complained for a third time, they replaced my forks and spring for 3rd gear. So far so good and about 300 miles into that. But i will sign up for the petition!

Really? All few hundred of us on this forum alone? All of those signatures on the petition? We're all "noobs" at driving a standard?

You're an idiot, my friend. Open your eyes. Cheers.

Man I'm sorry they took away negative rep.
