i think honda is being, umm, lets see here, oh, racist toward the si... since its a sports car and when something breaks, they automatically juss blame the driver because its a sports car. and like everyone else says, its a bunch of b/s cause not everything on a car is gonna be perfect and shit happens and things break, not always because of the driver...

Honda decided they want to make an offer and the service manager says that honda will provide the 4000 dollars transaxle as long as i pay for the labor!! which is 1000 dollars plus rental car fees i have not accepted this because i dont owe honda shit, i have a warranty and my warranty states that i wont have to pay for nothing!! Dealerships love to claim misuse and abuse but according to the advertisement of this vehicle they tell you that this car is meant for this!! just look back and read that broschure and how they convinced all of us SI owners into believing were are getting something were not!! thats a false advertisement of a product that a billion dollar company is putting out to attract peole to buy this vehicle. please go back and read all the exciting thigs that honda says you can do with this vehicle, like in one for the 2008 sedan si it states "Burn up the pavement" now is that the misuse or is that what u are telling me i can do with this car, if i wanted a regular ass civic i would have gotten a LX an not a Si **** Honda and thats from the Heart!!! im taking this shit all the way!!

Well best bet is to always take your car home and remove all aftermarket parts before u go to the stealership. Good luck my friend.

former employee of a Honda dealer, i don't see why they want to charge you for labor and rental? check your extended warranty policy. is it Honda care or something like it? in La. we have LDS ( Louisiana Dealer Services ) warranties and most have a rental policy were if your car is in the shop for warranty work ,you would only pay a deductible, like $50 or $100 . find your warranty papers and read them real good, besides it is still under FACTORY power train Warranty anyways so the aftermarket parts should only void those parts exhaust and intake ( unless of course you suck up water b/c of intake, diff. matter)anyways stick to your guns and Honda should take care of it. Honda might have only gave that dealer $4,000 to fix the job and that is why they are hitting you up for money, to my understanding Honda should cover all PARTS AND LABOR. if is an extended warranty claim then you should only have to come out of pocket for your deductible..................Good Luck.

Looks like in this case, the diff blew up and not the tranny. Someone who knows how these work should chime in and say what they think happened.

If you are lucky, you might be able to get away with getting an RSX diff housing and upgrade to a Quaife LSD.

i was told that the tranny was done!! because the housing was jacked up due to the bearings and thats what caused the leak

I went back and read through the thread . . . sucks man. I can see where all that shrapnel in the housing would do it in.

They pulled the same shit on my girl, although nothing with the transmission (knock on wood). A splashgaurd fell off, taking a nice little chunk of the bumper with it, and they tried to tell us all these "stories" about how she must've backed into a wall or something, and been "unaware". I mean....c'mon. They also said they're not covering it, and gave us a bill for close to $900 to have the ENTIRE rear bumper replaced, over maybe 2-3"in. of missing plastic. Needless to say, I no longer get ANY sort of "service" or anything done there, anymore. Hell....I'm pretty-sure it probably happened in THEIR automatic car wash, anyway. I just can't prove it. Honda can suck my balls.

i dont know but to me it looks like someone broke this by hitting it with something this doesnt look like it can be dont internally but i dont know usually the gears on the diff would grind out but the whole middle section is broken and not the ring gears
