"CLICKING" Noise?

I thought i'd share with you something, friday after work i drove up to richmodhill for a 8th meet and on my way there, i got off of the highway when i shouldnt have, and i herd a more or less constant noize that did go speed up a bit while i was going quicker(city driving) it sounded like it was comming from the dash or eng.bay?

It might be a chipped/missing tooth in the tranny(that would be a speed sensitive tick) or it could be a clicking valve comming from the eng? or a solenoid from the steering coloum? it could be alot of things.

It stopped when I stoped at the lights, then started again once i got moving. the durration between the clicks was between 0.5sec. to 1.5sec. depending on speed of car and the engine but not really... it sounded like if you would flick the dash with your fingernail...

So i had my head turned towards the steering wheel about 4" from it moving back and forth listening where it could be comming from. then i realized that if the airbag went off i would be dead, so I decided to just drive the car and not worry about it. but once i got back on the highway i didnt here it any more????

Also i washed the car right before it happened and when i started it it stalled then sputtered and when i took off it smothed out???

But that could have been caused by me CAI or race headers sending odd datta...???

Gone now so i cant go to the dealer.

BTW... As you all may know i am rough with it at times, but not a n00b. I have not over revved it with a miss-shift or overheated it(if its posable) but I have powershifted and gone quite quick on occation.

It was hard to distinguish from the other rattles in my car?, but I dont really mind them, this clicking noise really did bother me though... also i have had a check fuelcap code for 2-3 weeks that wont goaway but i dont have the time to get it checked... so it might all be related?

Sounds like you had a rock or something stuck in your tire.

no sir, def not. the clicks where 1 sec apart. if it where a rock it would be more like 10-20 clicks/sec at thats speed. im thinking it was more seriouse then that.

Next time it happens im going to stop by the dealer and also have them change the fuel cap.

^^^ thats the joint between the header and cat, common problem with the 8th, a guy even got it on video... i have the race headers that get rid of the car so i dont have that particular problem. when you creep forward your engine rocks back and forth a bit and that at that joint causes the squeaking your talking about. ^.^
