Re-flash for rev hang?
I read another thread that talked about a reflash available for the ECU to correct the annoying rev-hang issue. I have an '07 and the info I saw was for an '06. This rev-hang (lag time untill RPM drops between gears) really makes the car hard to drive smooth. The car is also very "surgy" when cold. I took the car in to the dealer and they seemed to not even understand what I was talking about. They did some sort of idle adjustment that I thought would do nothing and did just that. What should I do? Any thoughts?

there is a rev hang reflash, i had it and it didnt do a thing. only way to get rid of it is to get the hondata reflash.
But it did help the bucking while accelerating when cold problem. |

I had the reflash done on my 07 si sedan for the rev hang. The dealer said it must have not had it because it 'accepted' it. Well it hasn't changed a thing..... still have the rev hang and still surges like crap when cold. Feels like they drove it in one door and out the other

Tell you what between the rev hang, the 3rd gear problem and the thin as water paint this may be my first and last Honda I buy. I may consider moving up to an Accord coupe if they dont have issues but I'm not sure. If this was a 15k car it would be a different story but at over 20k problems like this are unacceptable. Next time I think I may just pony up and go all wheel drive.

My 2008 EX Coupe also has the rev hang. Is everybody saying I could ask the dealer about this at the next oil change and possibly get a "reflash"?. I definitely don't want to make anything worse - the car is pretty smooth right now. I've gotten used to shifting smoothly with it. I don't have a lot of surging when cold, but that's mostly due to the fact that I let it warm up for about a minute and drive it very slowley until it's warmed up just a bit.
These Civics are cold-blooded little bastards. My Tundra warms up quicker in the morning with a big V8 in it. By the way, for the first 1000 miles I had a fairly rough idle that was pissing me off (car warm, warm or cold weather - didn't matter). I accidentally put in 89 octane during a gas stop one time - idle smoothed considerably. I've been putting in 89 for the past four months and the idle is smooth. |
