hissing noise while driving

Not sure if this has been posted and couldn't find anything when searching for anything related to the topic.

Anyways, so I was driving home from work today and I usually drive with the windows down. Well today, it was kinda cold out so had my windows up. As I accelerated harder, suddenly this hissing sound appears. I don't think I've ever heard this kinda sound before. It comes only when the car revs in the mid range (i.e. 4 or 5k) and once I hear it, it'll keep hissing no matter how slow or fast I'm driving and the hissing sound tends to stay the same in terms of its loudness and goes away when put in neutral. My Si is an 07 with 12k miles on it. Anyone else get this or is this normal?

(Note: I did think maybe it was the intake, but the hiss is kinda loud. Also, my car is BONE stock)

Is it coming from the engine bay or somewhere in the cabin?

Do you think that is because when the windows are open, you hear more outside noise and therefore it seems like the noise dies down...or does it actually get quieter?

it's def. the outside noises that somewhat drown out the hissing

I kindof have the same thing, though "hissing noise" is subjective. I've heard this from day one in the same rpm range you stated. I think it is the air intake making the noise.

It's kinda hard to say anything w/o being in the car w/ you? How loud is it? Is it up there w/ an engine idle for example?

it's not the "sssssssssssssssss" kinda hiss. it's more like a "shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"

it's not loud loud. it's something you can hear when windows are up, radio off, etc. etc. It's def. annoying. When engine is idling, it doesn't do it at all. When put in neutral, the noise goes away.

UPDATE: (less than 4 hours later) it doesn't do it anymore. i drove it for another 30ish miles, let vtec kick in twice. perhaps it was the cold weather?

but anyone else have or had this experience? im still curious about it.

I hate questions like this SEARCH!!!

But dude, another reason i hate them is bc its obvious. its def not anything big with the car, but its definetly obvious if you look around. Check to make sure everything is secure, and check to make sure that nothing is wrong in the engine and your intake is clean ect. Its not that hard, maybe if you cant find anything you'll have to take it to your dealer to fix, but im sure if you just look around for simple flaws/prbs youll find out what the problem is. common sense, dont just come on a car forum and start asking about noises, check out your ride first. most likely something in your engine bay

1. read my very first post.
2. if obvious, why did I even ask? don't you think i would have inspected everything first before coming on here and asking?
3. again, i did look around. not a common sense issue if i took the time to come on here to ask huh? if i really wanted to, im certain i can find worthless posts/threads by you, yet i didn't bash on you now did i? if u hate questions like this so much, don't read them.

Do you have a intake because when i installed my SRI it was making a hising noise in the mid RPM also, I was like what the hell is that noise so i put beck the Stock air box with a drop in K&n filter and it does not make the sound any more but im thinking of getting the reflash for my ECU and if i do that i want to replace the intake again but not sure what to go with.
