Shift boot question

Ok so I got my Civic Si yesterday afternoon and well I noticed while I was driving it that the shift boot wasn't actually connected to the shift knob like it was in my previous Lx. So I was wondering is this normal for the Si since I have never had it before? or should this actually be connected like in my Lx model.

To clarify if your still confused I'm talked about the top part of the shift boot that is plastic that is around the shift knob. It's not connected and you can see the metal bolt shaped piece below the shift knob and the plastic moves up and down.

Can someone tell me if this is normal or am I supposed to move it up and snap it on like it did on the Lx?

its normal. Honda for some reason does this on all the cars with the style of shift knob thats on the Si. TSX and S2000 are the same way. looks sloppy i know.

Ha okay I just wanted to make sure because it was kind of bothering me and I didn't want to force it on there if it wasn't supposed to be.
