input on this please... : foglamp installation fiasco!

ACURA dealership issue

I have leased 3 ACURA vehicles from this sole dealership within the last 5 years. Here is the situation with the current ACURA vehicle:

After my purchase of this brand new ACURA, I added 2 dealer options to the car.
1. Interior illumination kit
2. Bass Works kit (amp/speakers to enhance factory bass)

The above options were installed by the dealer.
The Interior Illumination Kit, for the record, was improperly
installed and so I had to bring the car back the next business day
to get it done again.

A few days ago, I decided to purchase a 3rd option: factory fog lamp kit.
I took the car in last wed at 11:30am.. after work I went there to pick it up .. i was told it would be done around 4pm and so I arrived at that time..it was done at 5:30pm. It is standard for them to wash/vacuam the car after servicings..this was not done BUT they issued a raincheck.

Driving away that day, I noticed that the 'Bass Works Kit' was not functioning. I contacted the dealer the next morning and they told me to come by. Again, ON MY LUNCH HOUR, i dropped the car off at 11:30am. I get a call at 2:30pm from their service dept informing me that the car was all ready and fixed up. I asked what the problem was and he could not say.

4:30pm i went to pick it up after work... drove away and once again noted that the Bass Works Kit was STILL NOT FUNCTIONING. This time I grew pretty frustrated.. I investigated the installation procedure of the Bass Works kit and it appears that the amp draws power from the high mount (3rd) brake light.. i also noted that that brake light was NOT working anymore .. all this after the foglamp installation. There is no fuse or anything I could find so I could only assume that however they wired the foglamps.. it must be drawing power away from this brake light somehow.

The dealership pretty much lied to my face and aside from me going in there tomorrow as a very pissed off customer... was wondering what YOU would do in the above scenario?

The way I see it.. i paid them the appropriate labour charge they were asking to do a proper installation..yet they're not paying me for my wasted time during work hours.

I'm thinking:
-refund of the foglamps installation labour
-2 (or more) complimentary servicings of the car. (so to ensure that I bring the car back to them and give them a chance to redeem themselves).

Man, sorry to hear about your dealership Fiasco!

I definitely would speak with a manager or 2 at the dealership and try to get somthing else out of them.

hmmmm.. maybe the CSX has a similar issue to the Civic SI/civic coupe lx/ex?

I have these options installed now:
1. foglamps
2. interior illumination kit
3. bass works system

according to this:
http://www.handa-accessories.com/civelec06.html

under the 'courtesy light kit' it says it cannot be installed on the SI / coupe Ex/lx
with foglamps.
on my CSX, this light kit does still work with the fogs but perhaps
it has affected other electrical 'options'???

EDIT: anyways. .i've tried everything.. next logical thing is to replace the amp. For all I know this could be a 'yet to be documented' issue when combining specific options!

Here is the question to ask yourself, Do you want someone who is f$&*%!# up your car to work on it again?
I am all for getting something extra for your troubles but I bont know about getting service work if they can not get it right.
I am sort of in the same boat with the aero kit on my SI, they did a piss poor job installing it and want it fixed but if they can't do it right I would rather do it myself....
But on the other hand it was part of the sale and they owe it to me to be right... If I get anything extra out of it I want something that I can install myself...
Just a thought.....

P.S. As soon as it is fixed, my cars will never go back to that dealer again.......HMOG will see my SI from this point on!!!!!!

i would go there and talk to the same sales person and ask him can get the main manage and give a mad face and start flipping out in front of his customers and telling him infront of the customers that the service department mess up your car and you was wasting your own time going back and fourth just to install a foglight kit......

as a service manager for an acura dealership let me say this, going in there and yelling at the adviser is not going to get anything done for you but have you waiting longer and paying more in the long run.
the best thing you can do is call the "SERVICE MANAGER" and set a time to meet with "HIM" (not the adviser) explain everything that has happened and tell him you want this resolved as quickly as possible, explain that you can not afford to keep taking time off from work to have these problems fixed just to have them resurface once you leave.
ask for a day to bring the vehicle back in and for a loaner vehicle (acura allocates cars to every acura dealership). just straight up talk to the manager and tell him what you want. everyone seems to think that by being an a**hole you can get everything you want, but in reality you get better service if you explain your discomfort and unhappyness in a calm way. they will be more apt to offer things in the future that they would not if you are a d**k (loaners, discounts and assistance on future repairs).
This is just my 2cents, but you catch more flies with honey

Are the Courtesy Light Kit always on, even when you are driving? Isnt it distracting.

the courtesy lights have a switch that turns them on / off ... only come one IF your parking lights/headlights are on.

ANyways,
drove the car down to Tulalip outlet stores in WASH state... here are the current problems with it since it's foglamp installation:

1. Absolutely NO bassworks functionality - 100% stock sound.

2. interior illumination kit is also malfunctioning.. flickering on and off by itself intermittently.

3. navi 'background motion screen' (i.e. when music is playing, you get these 'bar's dancing in the background to the beat).. are not working.

obviously some level of electrical issues?

everyone seems to be having fairly good luck on the install of these fog lights. I put mine in a few days ago and following the instructions from the collegehillshonda site i noticed that the K2 motors switch harness lacks the blue and violet wires. I placed the red and white wire in the correct fuse block harness but i'm still not getting power. The switch lights up but the fog lights don't. Does anyone know what could be causing my problem? Is it the missing wires or what, please help so i'm not riding in the dark!

I agree with wrnchspnr - talk to the service manager calmly. Just make sure you tell him the whole story, and ask to speak to the mechanic or mechanics that worked on your car.
My wife has an acura, and I have always found that acura strives to do right by the customer.
Also, tell the service manager that you prefer only to hear from him/her about this issue, as he/she now knows your entire ordeal.
