I think I wore out the clutch....

well, I have 06 Si and last night I tried to burn out and think wore out the clutch. it's not completely worn out but little left. Now I barely even have to push down the clutch to 1/5 of the way in order to shift. Should I just ride the car or replace it? What are the options?

naw it runs fine in high gears. But since the engagement is so short that it's hard to launch the car smoothly and peels out little bit.

Take off in third gear. Once you get enough speed at about 10 MPH, step on the gas, do the rpm's rise as if the clutch is slipping? If that's the case, you're clutch is worn out.

Yup burn outs will do that to a stock clutch. Keep doing it and see what happens to your synchros. 3rd gear problem everyone has? How about a couple more. lol

I know it was my fault. Now everytime I get out of the car, I smell the clutch burn. It at least gives me a reason for stage 2 clutch upgrade~

Smelling the clutch is not a definitive external diagnosis of a worn clutch. How you do know what a clutch smells like anyways?

I think a good indicator is that when you are acelerating, the car will feel like it is slipping, and the RPM rise does not coincide with the speed.

What are some members doing to there clutches jesus i learned stick on my car plus i have almost 37k on my clutch and its perfect. Some people must really abuse it i guess people have money like that and they can drop 1k when ever to replace it with a better 1 more power to them lol.

Now you know why dealers don't want to cover clutches and brakes. See how it goes in the next week or so. Maybe you just glazed the clutch.
