Drivers side airbag went off randomly!!

OK so i was driving with my buddy and i hit a bump and my car sorta bottomed out. It was a dark road and i was going the speed limit I'm very suprised it bottomed out.

next thing i know, im pulling into a 7/11 parking lot and half way through driving into the lot, my drivers side airbag just explodes. it hurt my left hand, its all swollen. i didnt hit anything, my front end and hfp lip are fine. my buddies airbag didnt even go off.

what do i do?

Should check that hand of yours before it gets amputated. Should be able to do it under your car insurance if you don't have regular. Or, file a claim with Honda. They should pay for it, they sold you a defective car.

man, today was horrible.

first my airbag goes off randomly, my hand gets all brusied and shit from it... it looks like i got internal bleeding or something...

next my boy gets into a scrap, which results in me getting choked out for hitting the kid, then sucker punched in the back of the head...

on top of that, my school ****** up my grades for 1st semester...

wow

My hand is fine. Its just really bruised and beat up. It was the big muscle on my palm that got hit hard. I have all these wierd internal-bleeding looking like marks....

There was a recall on our airback software. I took mine in a few weeks ago. Not sure if that is the issue or not, just thought I would share.

06-002 - Safety Recall: ODS Unit Does Not Suppress Airbag Deployment, and DTC 82-12 or 83-22 Is Stored (Revised 01/26/2006)

Thats good info to know. I'm at the f*cking dealership now. Of course they are trying to tell me that it's my fault that my airbag went off without me hitting something. They said that bottoming out the car could damage the sensors and that would be my fault.

If you translate that into english, they are sayin its NOT honda's fault that their airbags might go off if the car bottoms out.

I own the other car that had its airbag deploy on a rough road earlier this week. Below is the info on the recall. It does not appear to be related to the incidents which happened this week.

2006 HONDA CIVIC AIR BAGS:FRONTAL
Recall Date: 12/27/2005

Summary:
ON CERTAIN 2-DOOR PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE FRONT PASSENGER OCCUPANT DETECTION SYSTEM (ODS) CONTAINS A FAULTY ELECTRONIC COMPONENT. AS A RESULT, THE ODS WILL NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY AND WILL NOT SUPPRESS FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT WHEN THE WEIGHT OF AN INFANT OR SMALL CHILD IS DETECTED IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT.

Consequence:
IN CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES, A DEPLOYING FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF INJURY TO AN INFANT OR SMALL CHILD.

Remedy:
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE ODS UNIT, FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JANUARY 16, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA AT 1-800-999-1009.

Potential Units Affected: 12756

Notes: HONDA CIVIC Q01

Both of these cars hit something, blak - with enough force to bottom out and jrak, well his wife was driving so who knows. Both show no physical damage. What have i learned? If i hit something with decent force get the eff outta the way of the airbag! It does suck that it happend, glad all are ok

So bottoming out the car created 3500 in damage. The street that i bottomed out on is state property so I'm going to try and make the state pay for my 500 deductable, which i doubt will happen.

Basically, honda says its my fault for bottoming out, and that its ok if the airbags just randomly blow after you bottom out...

So if i bottom out then 15 minutes later i'm on the highway, my airbag could pop out and i could crash and die... but thats my fault...

Im sorry to hear this dude, I can feel your pain. I was recently in a car accident where the airbags deployed and did more harm than good. Your lucky you are ok and it was your hand that was hit, things could have potiently been worse if it was your head.

You should have never said ANYTHING about bottoming out. Of course they are going to try to blame that on you!!
