popping sound when cold...

just bought a brand new 08 si and trying to figure out if this bad boy needs to go back to the dealership for a potential problem. when i get into the car first thing in the morning (or after letting it sit for a while) when its cold, the first time i turn the wheel (and only the first) i get a pop sound coming from the wheelwell. if i try to replicate it i get nothing. was wondering if anyone else had the same issue or if i should have the car looked at. i've heard maybe it could be the air bag sensors?? if anyone has some input i would be glad to hear it. thanks a bunch in advance guys..

If your in doubt, bring it back. That definately isn't normal.

no that never happened to me. just go to the dealer and ask them why is that. they are probably gonna tell u thats normal since they are so cheap. but it might save u trouble later on.

uh isnt this the popping problem people had with their stock si suspension or no?

i think hes talking about something different. cuz he never hear it again. and its only when he turned the steering wheel. but im not sure.

i have a friend that has a 06 civic and he was talking kinda about the same problem. his wheels or suspension would make noise when he turned only when cold or had been sitting for long time. he took it in and they found a problem with the power steering, it had a crack in it, and would squirt out fluid when he turned the steering wheel. hope that is not your problem but i would get it check especialy since it is new and under warranty

yeah, get it looked at... what's the worst that could happen? They CANT charge you on any work on an 08 when it's not even 2008 yet lol

Mine made popping noises when I would turn the wheel and go over a bump / drop off....like exiting a parking lot with uneven surface to the street. 07 Si Sedan. I have 6k miles and it has gone away now. I took it to the dealer and they couldn't replicate it.

i seem to remember something like this but it was only on really really cold days... seem many people had it and seemed normal... i don't know if this is what you have.

Mine will do it also only the first turn then after that it wont do it.. havnt taken it in yet.. it has been doing it since day one..if anyone takes it in let me know what it is..

so i finally took my car in yesterday because i was getting more and more annoyed, plus im on vaca this week so not doing much of anything else. just got a call from the dealership. SHOCKING they were able to replicate the problem. after of course i told them exactly what to look for and that i didnt want them to come back to me with that same answer. the passenger side front strut is bad. now how the hell can that be on an 08? they told me they were going to order a whole new assembly and that i should have my car back tomorrow...i'll let you guys know what happens.

just got my car back from the dealer, and everything was going great. till i got home, low and behold the lovely sound is back. wtf is going on with honda? i am so pissed right now, contemplating bringing the car back right now. not sure what the hell i should do, any suggestions?

it makes a creaking noise when its really cold outside and the car isn't warmed up. it could be the lsd. after the car is warmed up (10 minutes or so) it will not make this noise. if it does, you have something else. if the noise stops, then its normal and many people who live in areas where the temps are in single digits to low teens experience this noise.
