A Lil' pissed off...

ok, so this past week my dad has been on a business trip in florida and he decided to rent a car. To my surprise, he didn't get a GM lol, but he did get an EX sedan and was kinda showing it off... Of course there was nothing he could say to make me think that the rental car was better than mine (LX coupe), or so I thought... So after a cpl of minutes of pointless conversation I began to tell him about the oil life meter in my car and that I was annoyed at the fact that 3/4 of the display was left blank and that Honda should have placed a digital thermometer or like a DTE counter... Thats when things turned from an amicable environment into a more hostile one, he told me that the EX HAD a digital thermometer (even tho it wasn't on the same "screen" or "page" as the oil life). I don't understand why this bothered me so much but it did... I WANNA THERMOMETER ON MY CAR!!

Soooooo fellow 8th gen family, I have been losing sleep and wondering if there is ANY way to add some more "options" to the computer, I would definitely like the Distance to Empty meter but will be happy with anything basically... If there are any tech experts that can recommend anything I would be forever grateful lol! aiiight, holla back homies! keep it real

Good question, if you can't do it OEM style, then you can get a temp meter off eBay I'd imagine...

first off wrong place to put this secondly it really isnt all that great what it is. I use it from time to time but if its that important to you, you can rip your whole dash apart for the ability to get outside temp. :/

lol, kiiinda don't like ur tone but in my defense, I did realize I posted it in the wrong place... I didn't ask for any hostility, I was just wondering what I could do (which is ONE of the reasons this forum exists, to help each other with shi*), not like I'm going to die if I don't have it!

Moved to the only place I could think of where this might possibly fit in.

Dude, is a thermometer really the only thing that you're pissed about right now? Because I really dont think the $ saved by getting an LX warrants it.

lol if its that important to you go get a honda manual for the 8th gen civics
on the last few pages of your owners manual it should tell you how to get one
and see how they have it done for the si's and ex
then go out and buy the stuff you need and get it done

what i think you need is that part where it tells you the oil life from an ex or si
the thing that tells the temp
and im guessing maybe something with the ecu too maybe... idk

Yep. No caca! The day before yesterday it was telling me it was 66F outside, it was 86 according to the bank sign I passed and the sweat on my brow. I shun A/C. It robs power.

if it makes you feel better, perhaps you can get a thermometer sticker and stick it on you gauge and stare at it all the time

lmao just stick a thermometer on your side view mirror then you can check outside temp everytime you change lanes, you can't do that with our temp guage

maybe casue the car is moving and the wind lowered the temp....
but one reason i dont believe thats possible casue temp wouldnt drop that much just becasue it gets blown on by wind...

i dont really see the point in having it... its neat and all but...no real significant use
