Clipped my driver's side mirror

What an end to a crappy day. I damaged the driver's side mirror on my FG1 while I was pulling into a parking stall and clipped a concrete column. There was a loud pop and now it's loose, not hanging or dangling, but it is pretty loose and I'm worried it will eventually fall off. I searched but the only DIY's I could find require some intense work like taking the whole door and trim apart.

I am wondering if anyone's had the same experience and knows of a simpler fix or any other ideas. I don't want to drop a few hundred on a new mirror, since the power adjustment still works and it's not cracked or anything.

Thanks in advance!

PS: don't argue with your woman while you're pulling into a tight parking stall.

i smashed my FG2 mirror to bits. i got a brand new one from College Hills for $54.

its really easy. all you need is a 8mm socket wrench to undo 3 nuts, and a flathead screwdriver will help you undo the wire harness.

if you open your door and look inside you will see a triangular plastic cover right where the mirror connects. if you popthat off you will see 2 bolts coming out with nuts on them, and you will see two wired connected together. unclip the wires with a flathead screwdriver and undo the bolts. if you look to the right at the area that is only exposed when the door is open, you will see the black rubber door seal, in which one area will have a hole with a rubber plug in it. remove the plug and you should expose one last nut to undo.

IRC you only need to take the door trim apart for the sedans.

edit** oh, i see you are in Canada. that means your mirrors have heaters in them and are expensive. well maybe my instructions will help you to see whats wrong. if the only part of the mirror thats damaged is the painted outer shell, then you can buy a new one for $16.

Thanks a lot! They are not heated, so that's good news...
