a little update, i'm waiting on parts but the service manager oked the work and ordered the parts i just thought it was funny when i was like wow you guys are being cool about it ive heard most dealers try to avoid fixing it. he goes... " ya i just look for cars that are obviously taken care of and mostly un touched like yours..".
" i look for intakes, and lowering springs and stuff that makes it obvious if its been raced"

the whole time im sitting there in dis belief that he approved my work because not only do i have an intake, i have a race header, an exhaust, a comptech supercharger, a short shift kit with bushings, and i'm lowered. lol

i don't think he opened the hood. car just looks stock isnt overly loud and a tech drove it to duplicate the prob. i'm guessing now that he oked the work its going to just go straight to the garage and as far as a tech is concerned there just going to do work on the car thats already approved. i doubt there going to open it up and see all my mods and run to the service manager asking if its ok since the work was already approved. :P yay me lol

Usually technical service bulletins are covered under warranty if conditions apply for it. Honda is usually pretty good with it if you call and complain if the dealership denies it.

The tech was probley obsessed with your car and said to the manager this thing is legit just so he could sit and stare at it for 6 or 7 hours of work.

they have already done something. I already got my 3rd syncros/parts replaced along with 2nd gear parts, free of charge, rental provided. It now shifts like butter and i haven't problems for 2-3 months ever since it got fixed.

it's okay, i've done stuff inside like a full system replacing the headunit and all speakers, catback, intake and they still fixed my car.

Look at the file carefully and read this clause.

"Out of warranty: Any repair performed after warranty
expiration may be eligible for goodwill consideration by
the District Parts and Service Manager or your Zone
Office. You must request consideration, and get a
decision, before starting work."

there's '03 model accords listed in the TSB, do you think any of those cars still have under 36k? nah, i don't think so. my dealer is very nice. if you talk to any dealers around your area and the deny your claim for the problem, call honda of north america, get a claim # and they'll have you taken care of.

i just dropped my car off at Honda of Corona yesterday for the 3rd gear fix getting them to do the work was a lot easier than i expected. great staff over there at the Corona dealership. i went in with the printout of the TSB i got from this forum and the service guy seemed pretty aware of what i was talking about. im guessing i wasnt the only civic to come in with the problem. they took my car, gave me a loaner PT cruiser, and said "ok it should be done in about a week". so we'll see how it goes. ill update when i get it back

got my car back today and all is good not only does 3rd gear shift better now, but ALL the gears shift better. probably due to the new fluid they put in and because it was overfilled from the factory before. but a definite improvement. i took the scenic route home from the dealership to give 3rd gear a test to see if it would grind and it didnt. it doesnt exactly feel silky smooth, its still somewhat notchy, but it doesnt get stuck half way into gear any more.
