my dealership provided a loaner for the duration of the fix. once the parts came in they asked for my car for 2 days and provided a loaner for the time alloted to fix. they had to do this under goodwill though so it'll solely depend on the courteousy of your dealer.

Smells like a Lemon

I'm thinking about buying a civic coupe and came across this disturbing thread so I decided to share my experience with my old 2002 Acura CL-S.

4 failed transmissions. I had 65,000 miles on the car and it was 3 years old. 1 lawyer later and the remaining balance of my loan, 19k, was paid off and I had a check in my hand 22k. The bottom line is, if they have tried 3 times to fix your transmission, and it doesn't have to be the exact same problem just the tranny, then you have a car that will qualify for the lemon law.

I was worried because I knew once my warranty expired I would get screwed by having to deal with a car which I knew had a problem prone tranny. Besides that, resale value was suffering. The Lemon Law is Awesome. I essentially got every dollar I put in to the car back. It was like winning the lottery.

The bottom line is if after all these TSB have been applied to your car and the tranny still sux. It's a lemon.

Delsack.com - California Lemon Law Attorneys. Our CA Lemon Law Lawyers will get rid of your defective vehicle. Know your consumer rights!

I highly recommend this lawyer to anyone who needs lemon law assistance in Cali. It has been 4 years since I lemoned my Acura and I just refound his sight for you guys. That's actually my review of his firm that he has posted on his home page. The guy is very honest. I talked to numerous lawyers and a lot of them beat around the bush as to what their fee is, but not this guy. He just told me up front exactly what it would cost and he was very very fair. If you are interested in a lemon lawyer or just information check out his web site because it has lots of info. If it's something you want to pursue, shoot him an email or call him and he'll let you know if you got a winner, I mean lemon.

I got my car back from the shop 2 days ago for the 3rd gear issue. They replaced 3rd gear and my clutch I had to pay for the clutch but the tranny was under warranty. It took a month for them to get the parts in. Now all is well the car has been driving well for about 200 miles now.

wow, over 1370 signatures now, whenever i made this thread it was in the 500 signatures range.. and this was only about 8 months ago. that's a lot of angry people. but no need to sign the petition anymore guys, just have your car fixed under the TSB for third gear. i had mine fixed and while i had it in there i complained about my 2nd gear grind also and they replaced the syncros for both 2nd and third.

CivicSTI, they can't blame your for abusive driving. If you view the third gear TSB, it'll state your VIN/year model number and if it shows the symptoms listed in the TSB, they have no other choice but to fix it.

No 1st gear is unrelated to this concern. But I am sure they will gladly drive your car or have you drive it with them to duplicate the problem....anywho even though i am a honda tech and just bypass all the deny warranty claim stuff. You can just say look how they advertise this car, they advertise it as race inspired and all these stupid ads about racing and stuff. Just say you drive it as how it was designed and inspired, you shouldnt advertise it if you wont back it. When the element came out we had commercials showing people washing the interiors out with hoses and well customers did it cause they saw it thinking you could. Well honda had to eat that when everything started failing because of customers washing their interior with hoses and pressure washers. it was quite hilarious...then honda released all kinds of information to customers stating please dont do this and backed out of all the cool commercials they had about the element.

ok, so i took my 07 in to see what they could do. and i was pretty worried because mine doesn't do it very much maybe like 4-5 times a week at most. well i guess i was lucky or my car doesn't like anyone driving it but me cuz it grinded on the test drive, the first shift into 3rd the guy did. :) so they are going to order the parts and fix it. i guess my question is if i wanted them to do the second gear while they are already in there how much shit do you think they would give me since second isn't listed on the bulletin and how much cost would it add to me if i just sucked it up and ordered the parts.

well i told them that 2nd was doing the same thing, they replaced 2nd gear synchros and now all my gears are as smooth as ever. 2 months already and i haven't had a single grind. even shifting at WOT from 1st to 2nd never grinds anymore.
