Do the rsx's have this problem too?? how about the 5spd with the other engines? i slam my si into 3rd to avoid this but i'm sure it won't get better. i knew about this problem before i bought it, but i liked the car. being in the transmission industry doesn't hurt, i can always get it fixed i guess.
YES!! my dc5 before had the 2nd gear problem that everyone was complaining about..

SO does this count as a 3rd gear problem? Sometimes when I am driving and I shift into 3rd gear it feels a little stiff when I throw it in. I have 4600 miles on my Sidan and Im used to just clutching and throwing it into third, so I think Im just letting the clutch go too quickly. But its never popped out while driving in third, just feels stiff and occasionally grinds when I do that.

Im getting the oil change tomorrow and having them look at the window streaks that get left when I roll the windows down and up. If this is a third gear issue I want to let them know about it...thought they probably wont be able to reproduce the issue.

Signed! After I signed it I looked at the previous signatures. Just about every one of them says something about 3rd gear!

I signed it

I signed it. I have trouble no matter if I am being easy on her or if I am in Vtech.
It grinds or pops out of 3rd gear almost every time!

3rd gear pops out occasionaly, grinds ALL THE TIME no matter easy or hard shifting, and i also have problems even getting the car in first gear. Im sitting at light, light turns green i put it in first gear, O WAIT IT WONT GO IN, so 3 options, i first started jamming it in there and after doing ti hard enough it would go, option 2 slightly revving the engine seemed to do the trick but you need to wait for it to drop which sucks if your at a green light, and 3rd which i basically do all the time now is just shift to second then back to first sometimes twice but it usually does the job and i dont feel bad for banging it in there.

man i thought it was me. I just picked my 08 si sedan yesterday and right when i pulled out i felt like an ass for missing second driving real slow. im just so used to putting it in gear easy and letting the clutch out. its hard to feel when its actually in gear. Then, today I grinded 3rd....maybe i just need to get used to it. other than that, i love my si.

signed... it might just be psychological, but 3rd gear seems the least smooth to shift into out of all the gears, as if the slot is smaller and bumpier. Hope this makes a diff...

Seems like I'm experiencing this third gear problem whether the car is hot or cold and I am now at about 16K miles and changed tranny oil to synthetic at 4K miles.

Im at 5.5k and it grinding on my while shifting the other night...and I know I was in 3rd when I let the clutch out. Other times it just feels tough to catch when I shift into 3rd.

Lets fix it to be on the safe side Honda.

Your gonna need a lot more than an online petition but a hard factual legally backed one.
I disagree completely with the above, and I want to thank all of you that initiated this protest, news cast blog, and now on-line petition. It is the vast reach of the internet that lets us collectively combine our power as consumers, especially unsatisfied consumers, to make the big boys listen. If we had all filled out the JD Powers New Car Survey, and documented this problem in high numbers, the recall would already be out. Think about it. Apparantly Honda/Acura has carried this problem with the manual trans thru a few generations of vehicles, and just because they (consumers) didn't speak up then, we inherited the problems. Now with the advent of the internet, we can search, find, join in opinion, and join in action. Let's call it an internet class action, for lack of a better analogy.

NO MORE. WE AS A GROUP CAN AFFECT A RECALL. THIS NICE CAR SHIFTS LIKE SAND (I HAD ANOTHER 4 LETTER WORD BUT COULN'T USE IT HERE), NOT BUTTER, AND ITS JUST PLAIN WRONG. MAKE THEM FIX IT NOW BEFORE THE NEXT GENERATION OF HONDAS CONTINUES THE PLOY ON THE CONSUMER. MAKE THEM MAKE EVERY PART AND ASSEMBLY, NOT JUST MOST, LIVE UP TO THE HONDA REPUTATION AND EXPECTATION. SIGN THE PETITION.

Add Year, Make, and Model to form?

Suggest you add a field in the form for the Year, Make, and Model of the car. Nearly everyone is leaving that info out, and I hope it doesn't affect the ability to apply the list to 06-08 Civic Si's.

#1049 Signature 02-27-08

So what is the rate of signatures from start?

Where is the link to contacting American Honda about this, after signing the petition. I saw it here somewhere the other day while getting motivated to sign, and now want to call them to discuss it after signing.
