727 here. This car is very disappointing. Only 1100 miles and the transmission is showing weakness. Also for owning a new 2008 Civic Si one would think that the rev-hang problem would be fixed but it suffers from that too. You would think that Honda would have their sh!t together by now...I have been a honda fan forever and this car disappoints me.

Probably been covered a million times - but if you go to the dealer and ask for the third gear fix, do they insist on having one of their techs go out and drive the car first to see if necessary. And if they don't think it is bad enough will they refuse to do it?

Mine is an '08 with 3800K, and I don't notice it too much if I hold down the clutch longer than normal but if you try to quickly shift into 3rd - forget it, it doesn't want to. And unfortunately I have grinded it a few times even when trying to be careful so I don't know how much more damage I've done because all I read is that the transmission is as brittle as glass.

I spoke with the SR this morning and he explicitly told me THERE IS A RECALL ON THE TRANNY 06-08 si's starting January 2008, (Just like the edmunds link i posted on my last post) if any of you even read it. I guess i am getting carte blanche on the issue because of who i know.... but that is beyond the point of this.

I was told that Honda wants the dealership to confirm that indeed this is the problem with my tranny and then they will have it authorized and have it rebuilt, i have yet to get an actual parts list. I forgot to ask for the bull. I will call him later and request it, if there is indeed one i will most likely get a copy of it for you guys.

I AM NOT TRYING TO START A WAR HERE BOYS. JUST LETTING YOU ALL KNOW THAT THEY ARE FIXING THIS PROBLEM FROM WHAT I AM "TOLD", THEY KNOW ABOUT IT. ALSO, THEY WOULD NOT HAVE POSTED ANYTHING ON EDMUNDS ABOUT IT IF IT WAS NOT SO!

MORE WHEN IT COMES AVAILABLE.

You did not do a very good job with putting me in my place, because this issue is still not fixed, there is not an offical bulletin out, and many people have called the dealer and there is no fix right now. So again, you are incorrect.. Also edmunds just said there was a problem, they didnt say honda was fixing it.. WHy would we want to read something that told us there was a problem... i am pretty sure we all already know this information tough guy..

So let us know when you have information about a bulletin or something that will actually HELP us get ALL of the cars fixed, not just yours.. Because again, noone really cares about JUST YOURS

Well they can Not REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AS OF yesterday!!! Now i understand you guys. Oh and Edmunds Stated that Honda is coming out with a recall or bull in January. That is what was said. I think this whole thing is BS. So even having family involved in the dealership dose not do it then nothing will. So i told my service rep that i guess i will come back when i HAVE NO THIRD GEAR! then they can fix it. My family member GM of dealership is just at wits end as well. So guys.... I guess you can put me on that petition!

Mine is being replaced next week, appointment has been made and i got all this info from the SM at my dealership

Call your local honda dealer for more info...
Do you have a work order or a TSB this is being done under. I've takening my in several times and since i can't make it happen on cue, the most they've done is change the MTF.

Makes me want to just force it in to gear a few good times when it does it so i can make sure they can find the problem.

This is incorrect.. Long-Term Road Tests - 2006 Honda Civic Si: Popping Out of 3rd Gear reread the blog..

You got your information from a comment in the comment section, not the person who wrote the actual blog for Edmunds.. So again we can't really listen to what someone posted in the comments section because they were prolly misinformed like you were...

So again please stop giving false information

No problem boy, i love correcting people with wrong information and it looks like you are just filled with it

ALSO, i went to the dealer today about the bump stop issue, talked with the Service manager, and looked at Honda's Technical Notes and they are not even investigating the 3rd gear problem, which means that since they arent even investigating it dont cross your fingers about a TSB soon.. She also said that there is nothing she can do with all of our signatures or anything, the only thing that will cause them to do something is the NHTSA (which i posted in a different thread) or a class action lawsuit...

So hopefully the NHTSA will start looking into the problem soon!

It's been awhile since i've been on here, but having a 07 si myself i know that this is infact an issue. I've read a few threads, but don't know if any of those who contacted the dealer and were turned away have filed a complaint with the BBB?

Honda of America in Torrance, CA BBB Report form here:
Company Report

I think those of you that have tried and failed at your local honda dealer should give this a shot. I can't imagine if 700 OF THESE were filled out we wouldn't have *at least* an offical response from Honda. Eventhough Honda is not a member BBB will make contacts with them. We've tried going from the bottom - up. Let's take it the other way!
