Honda is already rebuilding all MT's on all 06-07 si's that have the 3rd gear problem so you guys can stop this petition.

Mine is being replaced next week, appointment has been made and i got all this info from the SM at my dealership

Call your local honda dealer for more info...

I agree, I'm not paying them to do it, thats why I purchased a brand new car.

But as far as doing it ourselves, I know people have done it but i can just see dealerships or Honda giving people trouble because the work wasn't done by a certified technician or Honda dealership and they may even go as far as to blame the change in MTF for causing problems, you never know...
true true. i also have a short shifter, base bushings, and cable bushings. ibet they they would give me lots of trouble for those, but they havent said anything or found those mods from the last time i took it in. maybe i should take all of it out?

I don't think the dealer is really going to be able to tell you changed the fluid. I doubt they're going to drain it and send it off to a lab to be analyzed...

I wish you had more info on this. People have already called their dealers after seeing your post and their dealers said they haven't heard anything.

Definitely interested to learn more about this...

Yeah I'm in the same boat with TWM base bushings, cable bushings, and SS.

I am waiting to see if anything develops, and then if not I might take all the TWM stuff out return it to stock and bring in the car to try and have them replicate the problem.

My dealer hasn't mentioned anything about my stuff, but then again there shouldn't be any reason why they would. But if I were to complain about tranny problems and have them test drive the car, I'm sure they would mention it then.

Thats debatable.

Not that they would go and test it, but that they might be able to tell if it was changed. For example I'm not sure but the Amsoil fluid might be a different color than the OEM MTF.

I completely agree, but I would love for him to prove us wrong but I'm not hopeful.

I wouldn't worry about it. They both look like nice rich tan new oil.

Guys, i'm just stating what was said to me. Maybe because I am the nephew of the GM of the dealership?? I dunno. I am friends with the SM as well so maybe it is because of that. Sorry if you guys do not believe me. It will be proof when its fixed and i have a bill. I will scan the bill and show you guys once fixed. If i can get a bulletin i will like i said.

YOU CAN FOLLOW ME ALL YOU WANT! DON'T SHOOT THE MESSENGER.... KID.

First off i really don't care to much if you were able to get YOURS fixed, i care about the civic community and so we can get ALL of our cars fixed, not just some nephew of a GM... And again we don't care about your bill, we just want the bulletin..

second, kid? There really was no need for that.. And i am sure i am older than you anyways. But i guess nice try at a burn?

I have to agree.

We need to have Honda recognize our problem and fix/replace everyones transmission that is having issues, not just one persons.

But if there is indeed a bulletin on this from Honda, and your not just getting the work done because you have ties to people at your dealership then I and a lot of other people would appreciate it if you post any and all info you find out on this bulletin.

DOHCKLR: I did not mean to try and burn.. You came off very abrupt and i needed to put you in your place. No need to start to get all tough about this issue SO DROP IT!

I spoke with the SR this morning and he explicitly told me THERE IS A RECALL ON THE TRANNY 06-08 si's starting January 2008, (Just like the edmunds link i posted on my last post) if any of you even read it. I guess i am getting carte blanche on the issue because of who i know.... but that is beyond the point of this.

I was told that Honda wants the dealership to confirm that indeed this is the problem with my tranny and then they will have it authorized and have it rebuilt, i have yet to get an actual parts list. I forgot to ask for the bull. I will call him later and request it, if there is indeed one i will most likely get a copy of it for you guys.

I AM NOT TRYING TO START A WAR HERE BOYS. JUST LETTING YOU ALL KNOW THAT THEY ARE FIXING THIS PROBLEM FROM WHAT I AM "TOLD", THEY KNOW ABOUT IT. ALSO, THEY WOULD NOT HAVE POSTED ANYTHING ON EDMUNDS ABOUT IT IF IT WAS NOT SO!

MORE WHEN IT COMES AVAILABLE.

^^^

Both you and guptuck2002 have reported similar things and apparently not only should us 8th generation Si guys be seeing a fix but all 6-speed Honda transmissions with reported problems come January, I really hope this happens and can't wait to get everything fixed!

Ok car is at the dealer right now. There is a "Flash Program" out for this problem, that is what i was told.

They obviously need to replicate the problem for honda to fix it. But i asked him if all the people that work at the dealership that own SI's had theres fixed and he said yes.

Basically they will take apart the trans and replace the 3rd gear and syncros. So it looks like this is for real and they are fixing the problem. I believe that this is on a customer complaint basis only right now. There is not a bulletin or a recall as of yet and supposibly there will be some kind of Honda USA bulletin or recall in January.

There will be more to come as i find out guys. I hope they can "Replicate" it.....

"Flash Program"? Is that just what there calling their plan to fix the problems?

I'm glad to hear they are fixing your 3rd gear and syncros and would love to hear back from you after you get to the car back and see if the problem is gone. But if all they are doing is replacing the original parts with new ones (of the same exact design) I don't see how that gonna fix anything. I really hope Honda has known about this problem and has been working on the redesign of parts to fix it, and isn't just planning on rebuilding our tranny's with the same exact parts.

And as far as complaining to our dealers, I and many others have and they have all said the similar things. If they don't have an official bulletin or recall then they can't do anything for free. I guess we will just be waiting in the mean time...

The parts that they are replacing are "new" in design. Not the original type. I was told that some Bolt is different. We shall see. All he has on it right now is a "Flash Program" like a Flash Bulletin i guess. It is going to be a real Bulletin or Recall in January i was told, and that is what i saw on Edmunds report on the long term test of the 06' civic si.

A bulletin would certainly help and be fine IMO as long as they have redesigned parts and plan on replacing them if the owner is complaining of problems. I think the problem with issuing a recall is its not consistent in all cars and it would probably be hard for them to even narrow down a VIN Number range to recall.
