i had my 08 done and they told me it was out of the vin range for the tsb, so they replaced 2nd and 3rd gear under powertrain, yes if you bring it in they will fix it. unfortunately 2nd gear lockout at high rpm will come back lol and eventually 3rd will do the same thing.

I bought a 08 Si FA5 like 3 months ago and I checked my VIN to the TSB and mine is out of the range for the issue. I also get a 2nd gear grind at higher rpms and 3rd that pops out or doesnt fully engage. My question is if there are still ass loads of owners experiencing the same issue why are they not resolving the issue? Obviously their "fix" didn't fix anything. I just had to wait almost 2 months to get a broken drivers seat frame fixed. I had two Scion's prior to my Si and Toyota's service was second to none. Honda needs to step the f*@k up and actually fix the problem permanently not short term by using more faulty parts.

DEFINITELY send it Consumer Reports. That could definitely help bring about some action by Honda.

I've always had a problem with 3rd gear but recently my 2nd gear has been really rough getting into. When you first find out your transmission blows the phrase that comes to mind is damaged goods. There sure are alot of ways people claim to have fixed
this transmission but I haven't seen a satisfied owner yet.

This is a recall by Honda, there is a bulletin that they have for it.
I purchased my 07 si in june 2010, and by november I was getting sick of struggling to get it into 3rd gear, took it to dealer, and got it back 2 days later, worked great. Problem was 3rd gear synchro, thats all that they changed. Said the material of new synchro was better. Since then I haven't had any gear problems per say, it's just that now it seems to be that I have to easily fight/persuade the gear change(s). So i'm not sure what the problem is now.
Just a question for you all...and if you could try this and let me know...
If your at a stop (car running of course) with clutch pedal in (keeping it in) then move the shifter lightly from first to second, again clutch pedal still in whole time,
DOES your car rock, as if the clutch is always engaged, saying that it may not be going completely neutral??????

how about this one... while the car moves in reverse, shift to neutral and back to reverse, does it grind for you guys? cause it does for me and i swear the clutch was all the way down. i accidentally found out so i tried it again, and another grind to the reverse while already moving in reverse... freaking weird. My car is on the VIN range and yes i have the TBS all printed out. would they still cover this at Honda? i really don't care about the reverse problem, i haven't done it in awhile, beside why would i do it again if i know how to avoid it lol

I don't EVER do this. I'm pretty sure you shouldn't do this with any transmission.

Well sometimes you are on a hill and your car is backing up which is fine, but then you put it in reverse (clutch all the way on the floor) and it does grind. i had tried it with other cars just fine but thanks for the feedback i wont be doing this to my baby. My main concern is that I don't grind or over rev it but my 3rd gear has problems going in sometimes. I own a 2007 civic Si 4DR which is in the VIN range and i only have 55k miles on it. would they still cover this?

This happens to me all the time. I experience it when I depress the clutch and try to engage anything from 1-4. It feels like the clutch isn't fully disengaging.

I was wondering about this myself. I've been noticing my 3rd gear having some of the same issues at the older versions. I haven't noticed the 2nd gear issue though.

This is what prompted me to come sign up and check things out.

Thanks, I was hoping it wasn't just me, I have seen a YouTube video on adjusting to more "neutral", but don't wanna harm the trans or clutch if this the oem preset.

JC102024- Yeah I adjusted it once and it helped a bit then it came back so I took it to Honda and they adjusted it back to stock cause my CMC was making noises lol. One thing I've noticed is that it only happens when the hand-brake is engaged. If I have my foot on the brake pedal it's really faint, but if I only have the hand-brake engage it's very evident.

Urlryn- I have issues with 2nd and 3rd. I've also noticed a noise that comes from under the car. It sounds like something metal hitting the inside of a metal wall. So I just assume its from the transmission. I've tried making it happen cause it happens when I put the car into 1st while the car is moving at ~5-8 mph, clutch fully depressed too, but I have had no such luck. It just seems to happen randomly. It's really loud too lol

Had my 3rd gear fixed at 36k miles. Still does it and more frequent at 60k miles. Took it back to the dealer and they said unless they can duplicate the problem they will not fix it. WTF?

I have an 07 sedan with 63k miles with extended warranty until 90k. It will once in a while hit a wall going into third for me, its like a once in a while occurrence, like once or twice a week, it has never popped out of gear, just hitting a wall going into third. I just don't know how to replicate it for the dealer? Any advice on what I should do?
