I set an appt with Apple Tree Honda to see if I can get my 3rd fixed. Just bought an 07 ASM FA5 with only 16k and it has popped out about 3x in a month. I know most of the tech's there so, hopefully they will help me out.

Has anyone brought in there Si for the third time to get the gear problems fixed?
I've brought my car in twice to get the 3rd gear fixed, the first time they just replaced the tranny fluid, and the second time they actually overhauled the tranny. That was about around last June I believe. now I'm feeling the issue again and am feeling that its rough getting into other gears sometimes, and shifting into 3rd is just not as smooth as shifting into other gears. I have 28,000 miles on it right now. I've been driving a stick for a long time and have never grinded this much. I've also brought the car in for a broken driver side visor and now the right side is broken and my front two windows rattle when its open like half way. WTF? What dealers are recommended to deal with this, I'm in Los Angeles and have taken my car to North Hollywood Robertson honda for this issue cause that's where i bought it. Any advice would help. Also, can't this be considered a lemon? How does the lemon law work? Last edited by adriel_127; 06-15-2009 at 01:00 PM. |

Add me to the list of 2006 Si tranny problems. I had the 1st-2nd syncho go so I had them replace the infamous 3rd while it was apart. 120k miles, mostly highway but drive it like a b**ch when I exit. I would suggest transmission oil changes at least every 30k and start an emergency fund if you have a 2006 or 2007.
Old parts make for interesting quality discussions at work. Most of the engineers I work with think the motor is too much for the toy slush box. A manual transmission is the weak link? Nice. Last thing you would ever expect to go bad. Isn't this why we buy manual transmission cars? Abuse the heck out them and replace the clutch as needed. It's not like we have drag radials and are on the track with perfect sticky ashphalt (well most of us). Love the car besides. Still a nice addition to the stable. Kid looks forward to driving it. |

I live in Denver.
dealer couldn't duplicate it but they fixed it. I complainted many times. It's mile high honda. They said I am the fourth who broght the car with this problem. Anyway, later, I checked the invoice, it states some defect found on third gear--before they said it had no problem. And also some said that if you change tranny oil with another oil ( I remember its name is somewhat purple ***) it will be gone.

Got mine fixed after ~15k. It took quite a few appointments and finally an official honda service bulletin, but they ended up installing a new gearset. It works alright, but recently reverse has been giving me trouble...

So last weekend "Saturday" I took my 07 Civic SI coupe in to the dealership Gwinnett, Honda Georgia with 29k miles on the car mainly because I have been dealing with issues with the third gear grinding since 9k miles. The service adviser took me into his little cubicle and explained to me that he had seen two other si's towed back to the shop and he said the transmissions looked like something blew up inside of them. So they test drove my car and "could not replicate" the problem. The service adviser has been nice and because of the service bulletin they replaced my third gear and all that other fun stuff that goes with the bulletin. I picked the car up and while on the way home it did the grinding again.. so I thought it was a fluke. The next day I drove it again and it was rough going into all of the gears and was grinding every so often into third. I took it back to the dealership and now they are claiming it's because I don't drive the car "normally" Does anyone have any advice for me. I don't want to get rid of my car cause I like it but I'm not willing to have the transmission go out and have to pay for it. If I can't get it fixed by honda I'm going to trade it and never suggest anyone get a honda.

My cars at the dealership now getting worked on under warranty. I had the 3rd gear problem and it made a whining noise when decelerating in any gear. Funny thing is, I get a call and I asked what was exactly getting replaced and they said: counter shaft and ring gear. Then they said that after reassembling, they can't get it into gear so they have to reorder parts. WTF? Hawaii Honda Techs = HALF ASS...AMATEUR at best. I had a bad feeling about this.

took car to dealer yesterday for 3rd gear and rear top motor oil residue.
they couldnt find any issues with 3rd of course and for some reason i looked at the receipt and it showed 19906 miles, and when i got home, bout three miles away, i noticed my odometer showed 19024, so that was at least 15 miles in one night?? has anyone else noticed it? im not sure if they actually drove it to find the issue or some dumb azz took it home or some punk drove my car and beat the crap out of it. i really hate thefact that i will never know. at least they were nice enough to tell me they put some dye in the motor and ill have to bring it back after the weekend so they can look for the leak via dark light. but as far as the 3rd gear, they want me to bring it back and have some tech dude drive with me since im the one that notices it and they dont. i guess its a reasonable offer. so i hope it phucks up on me when tech is in car so they can repace this schit...................... |

I just bough an '06 Si, it has 30k miles, im not sure how much of the warranty is left? Is this transmission problem something i should be concerned with? Should i go to Honda and see if the warranty still applies to me before my car breaks?

id perfer amsoil over the GM stuff, one cuz its working for me, and two....i dont wanna put chevy ish in my honda lol.........they might over it...ive seen mixed reviews on that where in sum cases the dealer jus fixed it no problem, then others were told that the dealer took the car for a 15min drive and cudnt feel the same problems....so try changing the fluid first buddy, lemme kno how it feels wen u do.
