I can't speak for all others but my problem, most of the time, seems to block off entry into third gear. The transmission seems to block me from shifting into third for like two seconds. The problem can be related to a downshift where the tranny won't allow you to downshift until the synchronizers are at the desired speeds.

ok... went through some hoops but found a OK dealership to fix problem.

so.. here my little story.. dont read if you not interested...

I went to the Dealership here in IRVINE, CA (Orange County) Fladeboe Honda
1st try...
I went in to get oil change and I told the service guy (fat guy sitting at last desk), so... he said ok we will check it out after the oil change and hands me sheet of paper for oil change but nothing about trans... and u know they write your exact miles when u service it...
so I picked up the car and I asked the mech if they saw the problem... "what transmission problem??" errrr ok so i asked that service guy "Ya we tested it and drove it onto the freeway and back but dont see any problem"....... so i said ok and went on... when I got into the car.... it had the same mileage that I had when i took it in... wth.
so a week later i get a phone call.. asking rating of service... and i told them everything. THEY DID NOTHING BUT SAY THANK YOU.
so couple month again.. seem to happen more..
I took it back to them.... and report same problem... they oil change and said they drove and didnt see problem.. but this time.. i had like 3miles on from reciept to getting into car... ok.. fine..
So I called and asked to speak to Technical Advisor...no answer.. left message x2.. never!!! called me back.

Solution...
Called Weseloh Honda and talked to tech advisor and told me they gotta check car first.. cause he cant go by what blogger say on forums and so on.. I never mentioned about anything on web or TSB.... heh
So I took it to Weseloh Honda and they test drove it with me in the car... he had 1 time shifting issue but he said it was his mistake.... errrr so i show the mech the TSB... and he said ok.. so at the end......... they fixed it with no charge

so my car seem to be shifting seem to be better.. but not 100% but i havent had problem shifting into third or popping out..... cross finger and hope...

Hey guys I just took my car for an oil change last Friday for an oil change and I also I had brought up that third gear was hard to shift into; and its happens once in a while. This was my third time reporting this issue and they said they are going to replace my transmission because my SI was still under warranty and a recall will soon be sent out on SI transmissions. So they gave my a loaner car and said they will call me when the car is ready.

Well Im new to this forum and I thought that it was me driving horribly or it was the civic. I knew I pressed the clutch all the way back but it feels like 3rd gear doesnt want to go in at times. I'm happy that many people have the same problems. I've signed it and would really love HONDA to recall this mechanical issue.

Guys, there's a TSB on the 3rd gear fix for a while. I believe its on another sticky. Make an appointment with your dealer. They will fix this!

1485! 08 SI 3rd gear pops out but not occasionally...like once awhile (not even vtec'in).
And 2nd gear grind as well (only @7800+rpm)

I understand that there is an issue with 3rd gear. I am dealing with my 07 Si sedan. The dealer "can't find the problem. A suggestion for all of you that have issues with 3rd gear would be to add the shift cable bushings. I know this doesn't fix the problem but it has made it easier to feel the gear going in to full engage point. This is my solution until I can get the dealer to find and fix the problem, although I already had the cable bushings installed.

I agree with this post, except that it also seemed to make it occur more often, in that I could feel it much more often!

This past Wednesday, at our local meet I had the privilege of playing with 2 peoples car who had 3rd fixed (I still have not). In both instances the clutch no longer feels tight, but rather feels like I'm stepping into a bowl of jello. It is complete mush, and both people say that even though 3rd is fixed it seems to egage at different points when suppressing the clutch, making it hard to get the shift correct.

For now I will continue to have them change out my MTF... it works for a couple thousand miles, lol!

Good luck... took me 4 visit to get mine fixed.
Also suggest you ride in car with the tech
The tech was racing my car and I think he tried to get into third and couldnt cause he had the RPM at 8k... and i asked him what is that and he said he was trying to get into 1st... sure... but anyways he fixed the car

TSB = Tech Service Bulletin
Kind of a heads up for the techs without being a full blown recall.
