Grinding into Second

Hey guys, just joined the forum a few days ago. I had a problem with my second gear grinding when I shifted at anything above 6700 rpm. I took it to the stealership this morning and he said he might have to take apart the whole tranny to find the problem. Does anyone have a clue what it might be? It only does it in high shifts to second, and 75% of the time. I havent put my other parts on in fear they would think I was racing and viod my warranty. Any ideas?

I only grind if I try to shift too quickly. Try slowing down the shift just a fraction of a second, see if that makes a difference. Apparently 2nd gear is a buff synchro, but it doesn't like to be hurried.

1st they cant void your warranty. They can only void parts of your warranty only if they can prove it caused the problem

2nd yea its sad this is common. I learned about 15k miles back to take 2nd gear slow and pay attention. It still catches me off guard sometimes. It sucks tho the only known fix on this is to make sure you push the clutch all the way to the floor and if possible just take it slow.

thanks for the info. Im still waiting on the guys at honda to tell me they want to take off my shocks and replace my rear seats to see if it will fix the problem. I knew it wouldnt viod my warranty to add my AEM CAI, DCRH, and full DC Cat but I dont want to give them reason...yea feel me?

Update, they called me and told me that there is definatly someting wrong with the tranny. They want to take it apart and see whats worng. The bad news is if they find what is wrong and contribute it to abnormal driving condtions, they are not going to cover it. They are going to charge me 1700 just to drop the tranny and find out what is wrong. WTF? If the car is meant to redline at 8000 rpm, shouldnt the car be able to shift at 6000 rpms at least?

^^YES i totally agree.. i just found out today mine grind too and im shifting it at 8300. i know that is high but still the car max rev is 8300 so i have the right to shift that high without grinding. this is from 1st to 2nd.

Take it for what its worth.....They are trying to play the fear card IMHO. Of course dropping the tranny involves a lot of labor and they will try to steer you away from that. If you are confident that you have not abused the car, then tell them to fix it and you will call Honda if need be!!
