if its leaking due to a crack in the head near or on the exhaust manifold bolts, the oil in the engine wont be completely empty. The leak is either on the bottom end, at the oil filter, or oil pump related. The times i have seen problems with over tightening manifold bolts is a broken stud, havent seen too many Honda heads cracked in those areas as Honda's casting is wayyy stronger than most others. The studs are meant to break before the head cracks.
Maybe your "bro" ****** it up, then all of a sudden he had to be somewhere :) has happened plenty of times with DIY's when you may not exactly know what you are doing.

Ahh sorry guys, every things fixed under warranty. Apparently the gasket wasn't installed properly which was causing my oil to leak.

Cracked Oil Filter... x 2!

I bought my new Civic SI in August 2007 and at the 1,473 mile mark I found a massive oil leak on my garage floor. Boy was I pissed!!! I topped up the oil and drove it to the dealership and they found the problem to be a hairline crack in the oil filter and replaced it and changed the oil. The tech said he has never seen one crack like that before. He showed me the filter and sure enough it had a very fine hairline crack in it.

It then happened again at the 2,629 mile mark but this time around they admitted to several SI's with the same issue. This time around the hairline crack was not visible but once the car was started it was definitely leaking. It appeared to be coming through the paint on the filter. When the car was turned off the oil leak disappeared. It was hard to tell where it was coming from when there was no oil pressure in it.

I'm at 3,200 miles now but I'm not holding my breath. Perhaps if this same issue occurs for a 3rd time it would justify returning the car under the Texas' Lemon Law?

Wow that's amazing hearing an oil filter crack that's a new one on me. Do you have any pics? And what could be causing a cracked oil filter? If Honda wants to stay one of the top Auto manufactors they need to get it togethor.

I'm glad I'm reading this post. I just had my first oil change on my RR 07 FA5 at 3000 miles yesterday. This morning I noticed a drop of oil in my garage. I will stop by tomorrow to have them check it out. Most likely it is an overtighted filter.

Very unlikely.
