Cheap plastic

I can't remember having a car with such cheap interior plastic as my new Civic. If anything sharper than a fingernail touches it it scratches. I had my keys in my hand when I put my sunglasses in the slot below the a/c controls and of course it scratched the dash. I barely touched it! My driver's door handle area looks like I wear spiked gloves. This my first Honda, is this common?

I wonder if there is a protectant, that we can use to protect the plastics. I have a few scuff marks but not too bad. What model do you have? Do you have scratches and dings/scuff marks or something?

I have scratches on the ignition cylinder also. I also have a scratch not too bad by the back seat,i have no idea how it got there. Whevenver you clean your interior and the plastic pieces, dont scrub too hard with a towel to get a scuff mark out it makes it scratch a little bit. The scratches dont really bother me any do they to you?

Your definately right about the cheap plastics that Honda uses for the 06 Civic. I've got alot of scratches already and I've never seen a car with so many scratches before especially on a brand new car. I debating wether or not to sell this car and get something else. It's been a good car, but its seems so cheap now. I've never had another Honda product with scratches like this car has now on the interior. I have a 92 Accord and it doesn't have nearly all the tiny scratches this car has.

Dont get rid of it over that. I mean you can clean the interior out with some treatments, but scratches are another story.

do the scratches, rubber shoe marks ever return after the interior detailer wears off? or does it acctually remove the makrs? no one on this board had successfully removed them because they evenutally repapear when the detailer chemilcals wear off.

yea, they're definately scuff marks, from teh shoes, not scartches. the only thing is that the surface is textures, so it's hard to just rub it off w/ ur fingers and water. i tried a magic rubber eraser and i got the surface scuffs off, btu the texture doens't allow teh erasor to get into those micro creaves.

I don't want to burst no ones bubble... But has anyone ran a rag on the upper part of the dash, by the windshield? If you notice, you can actualy push down the edge of the dash.... NEVER have I had a car that was this cheaply built...

I agree. I am selling my mint condition 95 Legend LS coupe 6-spd today and I am really wondering if I made the right decision with the car to get rid of??? don't get me wrong I like this car alot but I really LOVE my Legend and it's exceptional build quality all the way back to 91 which has held up better than the cheap crap they used in this Civic. I do need to realize that my car listed for almost $45,000 back in 95.

I have almost the same interior in the F150, all I have to say is that the civic is FAR FAR FAR better. In my F150 not a single panel is aligned, I have panels that a warped already (it's only 1 year old) and everything is just cheap, I get into the civic, and every if it is allplastic, it is far better. My armrest in the F150 has already been worn smooth after just 20k miles, believe the civic may have went down in quality, but it is still far better than most other car in this price range, or even above it, my truck was $36,000 exactly twice what I paid for the civic, and the civic is far better.
