tranny issues (3rd) but also another potential problem.

alrite i have the third gear issue but thats besides what i was going to lay on the table. alrite so you know when u rest your hand on the shifter in gear it can be potentially bad for the syncros..well when im in fourth gear anywhere from 2K rpms+ and accelerate and left of the gas, even if im not shifting into 3rd or 5th, the shifter moves in 4th gear. what i mean by this is it basically rocks while engaged in 4th gear. it doesnt pop out or anything just moves noticably, no other gears do it. i was looking for an explanation of this and is this a potential problem. also has anyone heard about honda do anything about our trannys?

The shifter moving when you step on the gas is something I'd call normal. You dont' see it happen too much with FWD cars but I've come from driving a lot of RWD manuals and a shifter that moves around in any gear when you step on the gas is normal, it's just the transmission moving side to side.

In a FWD manual the transmission moves fromt to back so in certain situations the shifter will move around a bit, but it's not directly connected the the transmission and there's some slack in the linkage so you don't usually see it move.

How many miles on your car now? When mine was new there wasn't a lot of play in the linkage, but now at 13k there's a good ammount.

Worn motor mounts can cause the transmission and engine to move more also, if you beat on your car then mounts will fail faster.

I would not worry about it. I'm sure my shifter moves, I just don't notice it.

^ I'm not holding my breath. It's been affecting cars since 2002 at least...

Just put some Amsoil in and pray that "Fixes it"
