a guess about gear grinding problems

I have a guess about gear grinding problems that i need for you to try on your si's.. OK Attempt to put your car in 2nd or 3rd gear with the clutch in before you put it in all the way halfway let out the clutch and push it down again. and now put it in gear and slowly let out the clutch... does it grind??? hmm i know if i do it that way 9/10 times it grinds..when not even moving..

Of course it's going to grind, the gear is not fully engaged when your letting the clutch out.
